Vintage Air Installed
I just got my '72 LeMans back from J-Rod & Custom in Auburn, WA. They had my exhaust manifolds resurfaced (one was leaking), moved the front seats to the factory position (they had been mounted too far back by a previous owner) and installed some Vintage Air A/C. They adapted the Chevelle unit for my LeMans. The A/C works great. I can't wait for some warmer days. I'm going to have to rename the car from the sweat box to the ice box.

Love it! I was thinking about aftermarket setup on mine, and wondered if the Chevelle kit would adapt. I put one on my 67 fb, and really dug the clean setup.

Btw, is that control head a VAA unit? Didn't look like a factory conversion, but I couldn't tell for sure.

The control panel is Vintage Air. The installer said the opening in the dash was small enough that the "Vintage Air" logo doesn't show up, which was how I'd prefer it any way.

Looks perfect, nice clean install. So does the AC come on when you flip the bottom lever to full cold?
What did they have to change to get the Chevelle unit to fit? Is the center dash vent an OEM piece, or VA? |

When my GT-37 gets restored I will probably remove the factory A/C system for a Vintage Air system.

I used classic auto air for a/c upgrade on my 350. uses 3 - 5hp vs factory which i think uses 12-15. Works well even with the black interior. That Vintage system does look very clean though..hows the fan?

I only had the fan on as far as 1/2 of the way to max because it was in the low 50s outside, but it blew strong enough that I had to dial it back to 1/4. Hopefully I'll have a better idea its strength soon.

Very clean! Was the Vintage Air system able to use the original side dash vents? I've been planning on doing some research for aftermarket AC.

rcread - Can you post some pics of the condenser mounts please?
Do you have any pics of the mount for the control panel as well? .
