Both halves look about the same? Maybe post a pic of top and bottom together. How do the rod bearings look?

Did you replace the failed Comp cam with a Lunati roller? I'm confused since you said it was a Comp XE 294 that failed.
I'd say the bearings look like they do from the filings off the cam lobe. Shouldn't get through the oil filter, but it looks like they did.

It looks like those bearings were run dry or with little or no oil pressure. Also they got very hot.

The move to a roller is was a wise choice. I had the same thing happen at 800 miles...Comp also with proper break in.
The bearings are a big concern and i do agree with the above post but it could be other issues. Seen 2 engines with the same kind of bearing carnage. One was improper crank polish which ate them in half hour and the other was wrong bearings. Full groove was used vs 1/2 or 3/4. PM CNC a member here ,he went through this last year. |
