Default One piece oil pan gasket reviews

I found were my leak is coming from. The rear of he oil pan. Has anyone use the one piece oil pan gasket from performance enginering. Is it worh the $50. Is it alot easyer to instal than dealing with the four seperate pieces. Do you still need silicone or does it seal up nice. Going to change it on monday so want some feedback before i order it. Thanks

The BOP gasket?
Mine is leak free after a couple of years. Easy install. Follow the instructions......

I used the bop one piece in my gp last year. Bone dry which is more than I can say for the goat I just sold with the standard gasket.

I have used a few of them so far. So far, so good. The BOP gasket that is. Never heard of the Performance Engineering one. I'm guessing it's the BOP gasket.

My BOP one piece is working great.
However, if it's leaking from the rear it could be the crank seal too.

I have used two BOP 1 piece gaskets now. Happy with both.

Per the directions that come with it, sealant in the back corners near the crank area. Just got one did not install it yet, but seems like it will work well.

I used the BOP on a previous project. Careful with an aftermerket pan. Make sure the arch in the pan is relatively consistent with the arch in rear main cap. The aftermarket pan hit in the corners before the gasket compressed at the top of the arch. Didn't catch it till the motor was in and leaking like a sieve. Thought we'd screwed up on rear main seal install.
I juast finished putting one (BOP) on my 400 stroker build with milodon pan and the gap/arch in the rear was perfect. Haven't fired it yet, but that's one area I'm not concerned with.

I had to spend some time bending and fitting the rear of pan over the main cap also because it wouldn't pinch the gasket at all. Wasn't sure if it it was the pan or the gasket. Either way it was easy to fit. Gonna use this gasket from now on.

And another "Like" here for the BOP 1 piece gasket.. Always a good idea to test fit pans with the gasket first though. As for silicone, like with any 1 piece pan gasket we use on Chevrolet engines, I put a dab in the 4 corners only, even for the Pontiac. If it's a Max Effort Street or Race engine using a vacuum pump, I will seal the outside of the pan all around it, mainly for added assurance because I hate chasing vacuum "leaks" on the dyno if it doesn't pull vacuum. Also because that way you don't have to try to clean all the silicone off the entire gasket to re-use it.

I couldn't get it to seal at the rear main cap when using a Canton pan, then when I started using a Canton Rail mount windage tray it became impossible to use so I've stayed with gaskets and The Right Stuff sealant. PITA coming back apart but it doesn't leak.

This is slightly off topic but never use the rubber gasket to seal the rear of the pan, these are notorious for pushing out and leaking. SD Performance makes a special wide cork gasket that goes between the pan and the rear main cap that seals better than any other gasket. I would not use anything else for my builds. I also offer them because they don't leak.

I've had good luck converting Canton pans to use the flat 5 "tit" rubber seal Can't push out. The three "tit are have curved and actually a hair longer than the main cap to pan bolts so they won't lay straight and push out.
