Anyone here looks for EDIS modules or coil packs?

Digging this one up because I just got a different style of homemade cam sensor working with my MegaSquirt 3.

I took a run of the mill points distributor and took a grinder to 7 of the 8 lobes then did my best to polish it smooth again with fine grit sand paper and then scotchbrite.

I originally thought about using a piece of aluminum strap to lock out the mechanical advance, but ended up drilling and roll pinning it like the HEI distributor I've been using.

Installed.

And a short video of it running. Not every day you see an old Buick engine running with the distributor cap removed

And for reference, the old HEI sensor I've been using for the last two and a half years.

Ground down all the teeth but one on the pickup coil.

And did the same to the reluctor teeth.

Nice!

How do the logs look triggering with the points? I always liked the hei for the built in signal conditioning. My first prototype setup actually used a points dizzy with a Mopar reluctor and pickup. An HEI module cleaned up the signal.

Are planning on capping the dizzy?

Dave

The video link shows the composite log and it's clean. Also, the pull up circuit runs on the +5v circuit, so low voltage, low load, so pretty clean. What's not in the video is I did several free rev's and drove around a bit and it didn't miss a beat.

I'll stick a cap on it for sure, just have to get one.
