Default Nice 67 GTO Survivor project LA CL

This looks like a good one to put back together as a survivor. Dont know why the engine and tranny removed unless it blew up or something. Odometer has 54K. Says interior needs restored. From the photos the interior looks really good. Just needs a good cleaning IMO. Buff the outside and I think you would have a good start. The front bumper is probably the worst thing on the body. Get the engine and tranny checked out and you have a number car according to the ad.

Only thing I see is the vinyl dash trim looks to have been replaced with the wood trim. You can see the wear in it next to the heater controls. Looks like black sail panels too. Other than that is looks pretty good. Too bad they didn't show the sides and rear of it to see what shape they're in.

Bob, that headrest looks like the old add-on style that slips over the seatback. Yuck! Have seen that crap in years.

10k is all the money for this car. It looks mostly original, but I've never had luck with engines that were stored outside without (or with!) carburetors. My money says the engine is stuck, which means sleeves. Love the black plate and original pinstripe. This car would be a fair deal at about 5k, IMO. In CA, no pinkslip and no non-op can result in a huge, expensive headache when trying to verify/register the car later. That there takes about $2500 off the value of the car.

It's hard to asses the value without better exterior pictures and rust information. If you have a rust-free body with a good frame, floors and truck, the price is probably reasonable.

I think without the engine at all it's worth more than $5K. ASSuming the rest of the car looks like the parts you can see. I'd think $8K or so?
I wouldn't call it exactly a survivor but unrestored cars like that are getting awfully, awfully hard to find. It's kind of like the cars you could find in the mid to late 80s or so.

Greg, I thought the same thing: this looks like the stuff I was looking at 25-30 years ago! It looks to have been frozen in time.

And back then you could probably buy that car for $1100 or $1200 bucks. Still, I'd say today it's worth probably fairly close to what they're asking. On Craigslist, if he's asking 10...maybe he's looking for 8, 8 and half... Not far off in my opinion.

With all that needs to be done to get it back drivable again, I'd say no more than 7500. Engine alone, to get it back running again, will cost at least 2000 to 2500. And that "thing" is in sad shape. Remember, prices are up from what they were a few years ago for an engine overhaul. The economy is bad, so everyone has raised their prices.

If it were mine, you wouldn't get it for that unless I was really hurting for money. I'll bet if he got that car out into the sun and cleaned it up it would sparkle. Look at the steering wheel. When was the last time you saw one in that condition?
I think it's a real diamond in the rough. Too bad about the engine.

I agree with Greg Reid. Diamond in the rough..
The parts we can see in the photos indicate that the car is in nice shape. Heck look at the headliner even.. Too bad more shots of entire car are not available. Titling in CA could be tough... I've never titled a lost title car so I dont know.. but I did title my Formula from NY into California and that was a breeze.
8000 = car
4500 = motor / trans
2000 = stuff
4000 = paint
under 20k for a rebuilt 67 seems reasonable..

That's the problem and why I said 7500. As you say, IF he'd clean it up he'd probably get a lot more for it. But somehow I don't thinks he's going to do that, and it will hurt the amount he gets for it. Engine in that shape will hurt too.

Of the 13 photos in the Craigslist ad, none show a side or rear view of the car. Nor do we see the roof (vinyl?), data plate, underside or PHS documents if they exist. The owner would be well served to provide more specific information, even when they disclose the flaws. I wish I lived closer so I could see it in person.

That's not bad James. Very workable and better than the "survivor". I'd offer 12000.

I like the car, but...

Is that a straight oil filter adapter and not the slanted?
Take a look at the water pump assembly at the front of the engine
On the engine bay photo, there's a square bore intake manifold sitting there

The car James posted is a much better deal. 4 speed, console, titled. Much work already done. In addition, the front clip fits right, unlike so many '67's. Tight, even gaps. The body gaps and lines are straight. This looks like a solid, no-hit car. The engine is absolutely correct for a WW CA application, down to the correct fuel filter and smog pump/gulp valve. Unmolested. This car would be a great buy at 12k or so. I like it!
