Just got my Bird shipped here last night, any one know of a good body shop around this area?
I need metal work (floor pans, firewall, quarters replaced) Thanks!

please let me know what you find. I'm shopping for a shop to work on my '65 GTO. I've talked to Rodney at Austin Collision out by the airport. One of the few it seems that does resto work in Austin. I'm going to have him come out and quote mine now that its media blasted and primed.

(http://griffithmetalshaping.com/) He only does metal work unfortunately, BUT he said depending on the project he can refer people to reputable paint guys. Maybe give him a shout? Did Austin Collision do a pretty good job? I might get a quote from them as well

Crushproof is a classic car restoration and repair shop here it town. I have not been a customer, but Crushproof was referred to me by a trusted hot rod buddy.
http://www.crushproof.net/index.html I also seem to recall that the folks at Crushproof were members of this board at some point. This is another option in Taylor: http://www.jeffsresurrections.com You can read more about it in this thread: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...ght=crushproof |

Captainofiron, if you are new to town, these are some other shops/car events you might like to know about, although they are not all muscle-car oriented. (Sorry if you know all this stuff already...) There is a lot of traditional hot rod and custom activity here in Austin, in part driven by a TV show that features:
http://www.austinspeedshop.com and the car club that runs the Lone Star Roundup: http://lonestarroundup.com which is: http://www.kontinentals.com This is another place that puts out incredible stuff: http://www.mercurycharlie.com/index2.php#/home/ Then there is Cars and Coffee, which caters to everything automotive, from exotics to rat rods and everything in between: http://austin.carsandcoffee.info and Motor Austin which lists a variety of events: http://www.motoraustin.com Welcome to Austin! psw |

Another one worth mentioning is Colvin Automotive. They get a fair amount of muscle and classic car business, in part because they hosted the Overhaulin' episode where Sheryl Crow did Lance Armstrong's GTO, and because they have a chassis dyno for hire. I like driving by there to see the cars in their lot, but have never done business with them.

Colvin Auto didnt do the paint and body on Lance Armstrongs car, that was done at Custom Car Crafters on McNeil and 183.I helped alot on that car and sold them parts they didnt have and needed. CCC just finished my 70 complete tear down and repaint also, they do alot of classic cars.CCC is haveing a car show-30 anniv on the 20th of this month with cars he has done over the last 30 years.
