Rocker arms
Is it true that Ford Windsor stud mounted rocker arms can be used on Pontiacs as a substitute? I see Crower makes an affordable 1.8 ratio that would be interesting to try.

I have a Crower 1.6 SBF that is no where near close to fitting -way too short a body, but others have. I think my 1.33 break in rockers are SBF and worked OK so I'd say hit or miss

Paul Spotts sells Scorpion and iirc he told me the 1.72 SBFord will work with the correct pushrod. THINK he ran them on his dragster... e-mail him if you want to get in touch with him.

Here's the deal with SB Ford rockers. They have a shorter body than Pontiac rocker arms. They ONLY work good when a longer than stock valve is used to increase spring installed height. When you lengthen the valve, the tip of it gets closer to the rocker stud, so in some cases, a shorter rocker is needed. In comes the SB ford rocker. It also has a pushrod seat that is a slightly different angle than Pontiac so a different length pushrod would be needed.
I have used them successfully in a couple 389 builds I did with Chevy valves. They worked perfect in those instances. Great geometry. With the Pontiac rocker arm, the roller would ride way out near the outside edge of the valve.

I needed .200 shorter pushrods for the 1.33 SBF rockers than the HS Pontiac rockers took.

Thanks for the great responses. Bruce I took your advice and emailed Paul but haven t gotten an response, but looking at his site he does carry the scorpion rockers in an 1.72 ratio. The small Ford is the only one to use them from what I ve researched. Freeks comment about the longer valves is right inline with the KRE Highports I have. There I m guessing .150 longer than stock so the risk is worth taking for me. I m an personal only motor builder so having a shop with a lot of resources to play with is limited for me so all your advice is greatly appreciated with this. My best bet is to buy one single rocker and do the mockup to check the Geometry and if it doesn't spec in I m not out a bunch.
