Headlight adjustment help!
Alright guys, I could sure use some wisdom. I am doing the final assembly on my '69 bird and yesterday I disassembled and painted the headlight buckets and cleaned up the trim rings. I put in some new headlights, reassembled, and installed on the car. I added the headlight bezels and there are some alignment issues. I will add a few pictures... Please supply your wisdom...
I think bezels were installed 1-4 from L --> R. Passenger outside being #1. The buckets themselves were not original from this car. Last edited by blue bayou; 06-22-2014 at 07:46 AM. Reason: photos did not upload. |

Bezels 2 and 4
Oh, and I could use a good bezel 2 and 4 as mine are very badly discolored.

Looks like the bezels may be in the wrong location?

Are you sure the plates that the headlights/buckets are mounted to aren't swapped driver for passenger?

Thanks for the responses!
@trmjr1 - I double checked the bezels and they appear to be in the correct locations based upon how they fit in the surround.
@Jason - That is exactly what I think is going on as well. The guy helping me do the assembly swears it is impossible to get them reversed. I'm sure he is trying to avoid having to disassemble to the point to correct them. I will look and see what it will take to remove them and try switching. |

I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure it was possible.

They’re installed in the wrong openings, reversed 180’, or something. Take a closer look at the picture of his car. I’ll toss in a couple from mine; also, there isn’t a left/right side headlight mounting plate. Are you using four 90’ brackets on each plate, two on the top and two on the bottom? There are only supposed to be two 90’ brackets on each plate. The bottom of the plate sits flush behind the mounting boss, and he fastener goes in from the backside. It also looks like the mounting plates need further adjustment. |
