And Thxs to the 60Man for OP posting of this "one-man hood removal tool" should come in handy w our '73 Grand Am long heavy hood.

That's what I paid + sales tax.
I think list price was close to $180.00 - $200.00..??
Might add the quality was great!! All tube ends closed over and welds smoothed out and think it's powder coated. Hardware included Nyloc fasteners.
Hope it works good as it looks..

Note: Assembly directions could be a little clearer..

Agree, same thing I thought. Also, I don't want to remove the hinges, just the hood...so will it "bolt right back into same place" wo hinge removal?
Sure it can be easily accomplished w tape & marking prior to removal...

Still a great tool IMO.

I just looked at your u-tube video..NICE.
tell me about your engine set up and how do you tune it so that your engine is not shaking all over at such a low idle?

actually I had just fired it up the day before, so really hadn't tuned it at all. I don't even remember what rpm it was idling at. It now has a tri-power setup on it and I have the idle set at 1000-1100 just to keep the solid flat tappets oiled and happy.
It's a 69 2-bolt 428 with a balanced forged rotating assy from sdperformance. CNC ported 6X-4 heads at 90cc, also by sdperformance, 9.5 cr, SFT Crower cam (262/252@.050, .580 lift, 110), Ran air manifolds. m22, Strange S60 Trutrac with 4.10s.

On the hood lift thingy, I ordered one from Amazon, but just got a message saying that the order was cancelled. Guess they sold out

I have a 400/462 with the Stump Puller Rollor cam, cast intake cut by SDPERFORMANCE, a Cliff Q-JET, RAM AIR manifolds with PYPES X OVER, #16 heads street/strip port by Butler and MSD ignition system.
T-400 auto with a Continental convertor and 3.90 gears.
The car is fast but at idle 900ish shakes some [normal?]
Yours sounds bad ass and looks rock solid at idle.

Handling the hood after it is removed and lowered I would think it would be a piece of cake to get off as it should be very close to if not at floor level...I think. Just stand it up on some soft materiel...then get wifey or GF to help..
Trying balance hood on your back/shoulders while you unbolt it and not scratch paint or break windshield...that's the real problem.. Particularly if you got two bad shoulders and back and
I'll give it a shot next month when I pull motor..

Ditto... Almost eerie that the car is so still while making that wicked sound.

Probably because all suspension pieces were brand new, poly bushings, springs, QA1 rear shocks, and HRpartsAndstuff anti roll bar

Maybe I'm misreading the ads but it sounds to me like you're able to leave the hood in the cradle while pulling the engine?!?! Might be tricky pulling engine and tranny as a unit.

Cool Amazon first raised their price and then cancelled orders

I don't buy that much on there, but understand that they aren't always the seller and the seller can kill the order if they are out of stock or prices change.

First time I looked it was around $80 and showed available. Checked a couple days later and it said $125.96 plus freight but showed it was not being purchased from amazon directly.

So I ordered one from hayneedle.com and they confirmed the order via eamail. $75.33 DELIVERED. I should have it the end of next week.

Good luck!

^ coincidentally, I also found it and ordered yesterday from Hayneedle for that low price. Hopefully they send it as promised.
