I do plan on building a street version (428-461) for my 68 Firebird convertible, but not this year. I have 2 other builds going on right now and unfortunately I don't have the extra time or money to do another one right now. So someone else will have to step up and do it before me. I do have a couple of guy's talking about builds like that though, and if they do I will keep you posted.

A little birdie told me that Isky cams might have some old NOS flat tappet cam cores stored away in their warehouse. I tried to get a hold of them to confirm, but know one got back to me. If they do not have any cores left. Maybe they still have the tooling to make them again. If they do that would be awesome!!!!

I don't think Edelbrock will ever do a RA 5 head. Not enough of a demand for them.

Default What did I do

Against my better judgment I took some of the wing out of the Dci RAV head . Not the pushrod tube. But most of all the other wings . It was ok on the bench but it made it to difficult to control the port taper . So I put it back in . This port is not the big race style port but something smaller 4.185 bore 2.300 valve . I know I don't post any exhaust pic but the exhaust port is so good but I am working on it also right now a 1.68 is what I like for exhaust valve dia

Don and Paris, today is my birthday and man I needed to see something on these Ram Air V Heads! Thanks Paris, I was wondering if someone has a 4.35 Bore or larger would you still stick with the 2.30 intake valve and 1.68 exhaust valve?

I know of (2) sets of these New DCI Ram Air V Heads going to Jim Robertson, along with the intakes, so Jim can work his magic on them.
Nothing like some high horsepower Pump Gas Ram Air V motors, with Jim tuning in the ports per each engine program. Gentlemen call Jim Robertson today and get in line for YOUR set of Ram Air V heads!!

Happy B day Rick and Thanks for the awesome plug. Paris has an interesting looking port. Any wet flow characteristics planned for these as cast? A 2.300 int and 1.68 exh in a 4.185 is a very tight fit. How far is intake valve from bore wall on that combination?
Gotta find a few more hours in the day...

As of right now the biggest valve combo that will fit without moving any thing around is 2.34 1.68 . I will flow the exhaust port this week on the 4.185 bore looking for about 315 cfm at .800 lift . All I did befor was blend the short side on the exhaust and it went almost 290 at .800

Don't you guy's sleep????? LOL!!!! 1 am and I'm out like a light dreaming about flow sheets.

Jim, it is tight with a 2.340" valve on that bore. The intake valve is about .080"-.090" away and the exhaust is about .030"-.040" away. I am worried about fuel separation with these tight quarters and would not recommend it for a customer. For the guy's that will run these on a street engine with smaller bores. I recommend they stay with a 2.200" intake valve. Then the intake valve will be about .160" away on that bore. A 2.34" intake valve will about the same distance (.160") away on a 4.35" bore, and about .180" away on a 4.375" bore. With the ram air 5 valve arrangement. We might be able to go out to a 4.400"-4.420" bore and still retain a gasket. I think some have already gone that big with the siamesed exhaust ports. That still leaves about .200" between cylinders for gasket seal. That's getting a little close though.

John, I think we can get a tapered 1/2" pushrod to work.

Happy B-Day Rick!!!!

We are very pleased with what we believe to be a cylinder head with that nostalgia factor and potential to perform very well on a broad range of ci and rpm .

Thanks for the pep talk estep455

Paris, thanks for showing us what the Ports can look like, with some port work in the New DCI Ram Air V Heads. Will you be able to share the flow numbers from these particular intake and exhaust ports? And if so, can you or will you be flowing them on a 4.185 and also a 4.35 bench opening? That could really show what small and larger bore blocks can see the potential for the given bore sizes. Lastly, I noticed is some of the intake porting showed a break through the port walls. Is that area a head bolt/stud hole, or water jacket? Keep up the great work!!! You are cutting the trail for many of the upcoming customers of Don's Ram Air V Heads!! By you doing so, you are the R&D for these dream heads! We can't wait to see the new INTAKE!! As well as what tricks you may have up your sleeve on that too!

Rick that is a bolt hole and I didn't really need to hit it. i wanted to know how thick it was .don does not like that I hit the bolt hole. So in the future I will not be breaking into that. The first exhaust port I did I hit the bolt hole there to. Now i have been able to grind around . I will share the flow numbers

Just To keep this short the head I've been working in with the 4.185 bore 2.300 1.68 valve head flowed a peak 450 cfm on the intake and 325 on the exhaust I will share all flow numbers and CSA when I think I've got it the way I want it thanks for waiting . It is a fine line between the right sized valve and too big so I'm being convective about things if I need to put a smaller intake valve in so right now min CSA is at 3.3 square inches

So, how are the heads going to be sold?

Ready to run?
As cast?
CNC ported?
Hand ported?

Any ideas on prices and options

Hello Paris, Thanks for sharing the information as you continue to wring out even more CFM while keeping the CSA and velocity inline. I am Wondering with your given intake and exhaust ports and how they are currently flowing on a 4.185 bore, what kind of difference would you think we would see on a 4.35 or larger Bore???
Thanks in advance for you sharing your findings and wisdom. Signed excited future customer of the Ram Air V Heads and intake!!!!
