What is the correct finish on 1972 TA instrument panel gauge bezels?

like me.....you know that...unless you pimp your ride like me, white boy.......mine are more oreo....chrome on the outside, black on the inside.............

Are you asking on the black car's behalf or do you have a T/A in the pipeline somewhere?

Pipeline is a little strong, but it's not the former.

They are supposed to be black Bob, 70 was chrome & some of the early 71's were too, but everything was black after that.

Default GAUGE BEZELS

BOB...I assume you are a TRANS AM expert...forgot you own a FORMULA...it is the next best thing,...no,I just quessed you knew all about 72s..my aplology....I do not know who to trust...70 to 71 chrome bezels...71 they ran out..72 to 81 black bezels...and only the inserts are painted...my car is wrong so if I do not get it right I am sorry I like the chrome bezels !!

Rings are a gloss black plastic and painted flat black.

The 70-71 chrome rings were chromed over a smooth gloss black plastic, but, I believe the black rings were just molded that way, or, possibly lighly media blasted to get the rough matte texture. I am pretty certain they were not painted as I have a pile of them and have never seen any paint flaking or anything like that on any of them. I have also had them in purple power to clean them (which I also use as a paint stripper for plastics) and every one came out looking rough and matte just like when they went in...no paint on them.
