A few months ago I bought a complete rear end with 273 gears and a posi with 95K on the clock. I want to install this in my rear end. I havent torn it down yet but when I do what should I do before installing it.?

Buy the complete rebuild kit with all the bearings etc. in it. About $169. I do not recommend getting it from the specialty places usually referenced here. Your rear-end guy will be able to buy the same or more complete kit for much less. Buy your own grease and GM posi additive, and do not let them use anything else.
I just changed out mine from 2.73 to 3.08.

Thanks I am right on it now should only be 2 or 3 months before I am done.

Measure the backlash. If it's less than .010", I'd consider leaving it alone and installing the entire rearend, assuming that will work on your car. If greater, new pinion gear and differential case bearings will tighten it up some, assuming you reuse the orignal housing. Moving to a new housing, you are starting from scratch.

I am going to have it installed by a professional as I am not into rear ends. I would mess it up.
