Just looking at the space between the 7 and the 0, it doens't look proper. That's all I see that makes me nervous--I'm don't know enough to actually make a decision on paying for one though.

I don't know why someone would forge a SR carb, unless they had a carb body that was already stamped with a 1974 date.
Although "most" of the digits appear correct for this carb, the first "7" is out of place and the remaining numerals are not aligned as they would be with a factory stamped carb. I've seen quite a few of these SR carbs, and this is the first that I've seen with the numbers somewhat "compromised". |

Nobody is going to forge a service dated carb, they are worth about 25% of what the originals are going for.
