Oh -

and don't throw away your rough castings or prototypes. I'm going to cut it up anyways.

Sure looks good with two intake valves next to each other on the center ports,,

Mike if I have any scrap pieces when I am done. I'll save them for you. Usually though the foundry wants them back after I inspect them and they melt them back down for something else.

I agree Jack!!
The build Mr Robertson is going to be doing with these heads will be interesting. Although I don't think that it is going to be an all out deal, but a pump gas street set up. I'll leave the rest up to Jim and his customer to fill everyone in on if they are so inclined to do so.

60man,
I know from the stock ram air 5 engines I have built. That the head gaskets look a whole lot better than the Siamese traditional Pontiac heads do when we tear them down. The heat between the two center exhaust ports wreaks havoc on the heads and head gaskets when you start making more horsepower with the siamese ports.

Don -

Any plans for making guide plates for your heads? Are they the same as stock ones?

Thanks Tom -

I will have to wait and see which one of mine is broken because I don't remember off hand. Once the heads get back, I will ping you.

I was kind of wondering if Don's heads will fit the stock guide plates or does he have some other design requirements.

My valve locations are not the same as the factory heads. So my rocker stud locations are different as well. Sorry Mike. Good news is though Tom is making a stock replacement. So I would buy them from Tom. Thanks for considering me though.

Don, can you confirm for everyone that the pushrod placement WILL NOT Require and offset lifter in order to run the New RAM AIR V Heads that you are bringing to the market. Also If you have shaft rocker system, like T & D or Jesel planned for your heads, that may help out the guys who want to run a hotter setup then standard roller rockers. The shaft systems will really improve the rockerarm ratio options. Thanks in advance for your response.

Rick, My heads will definitely not need offset lifters. The way that I arranged the valve locations in my 5 heads. Actually helped the exhaust rocker alignment, and the intake valve pushrod as we all know is in the middle of the intake port. I am indeed working with T&D for shaft rocker systems and will be sending them a head soon. If someone would prefer Jesels. I will be more than happy to send Jesel a head for mock up too. You are correct about rocker ratio choices improving when going with a shaft system. Traditional stud mounted rockers can flex with the higher ratio's, and that problem can be controlled better with a shaft system.

I want to take a moment just to remind everyone that my DCI 5 heads are designed to work on a factory block with as small as a 4.150" bore. That is with 2.20" intake valves and 1.68" exhaust valves. They will also accept factory style rocker arms and you do not need to use shaft rockers unless you want to. The intake port has been re designed to improve drive-ability dramatically. I know there has been allot of talk about max effort street engines on here and I do not want anyone to think that is what my head was designed for. My heads will work on anything from mild to wild.

Don, how much is a set of heads and intake?

I am in the process of building a street car and will need a motor for it this fall.

Thanks, Jack

Jack, They will start at $3499.00 a set for the castings with guides and seats. The total price will depend on what someone would like to have done to them. I was going to offer complete heads, but everyone I have talked to wants to do something different. So it makes no sense for me to buy a bunch of parts that will just collect dust on a shelf somewhere. As for the intakes. All I can do right now is speculate a price, but I think they will be around the $800.00 range. Remember too that I am going to give a discount for paying by check or cash. I hate giving any more money than I have to to the credit card companies. The headers will be available through Mad Dog and I am trying to get someone on board for camshafts right now.

Another side note: The intake manifold is going to be a universal style. Meaning that I am going to offer several different tops for induction. You will be able to have anything from a single 4 to a blower including 3x2's. I think having a 3 two barrel throttle body fuel injection set up would be way cool!!!!
