Default 62-63 Round Brake Master Cyl. Rebuild Kit?

Haven't found any kits for the round one. Guess it has been a while since they stopped making a kit for this one.

Raybestos MK 432 or NAPA 432. Same kit as used on the square body master on the 61's.

Thanks Keith. Will buy one or two as a spare.

All wheel cyls and master cyl were rebuilt 10 years ago before I bought the car.
They are still holding fine, but always good to have a back up plan. I see no need to rebuild as a precautionary measure until maybe 15-20 years old.

Right now, am still dealing with uneven braking in the rear- one side will lock up.
Need to find 2 new drums and that will probably solve the problem - one rear drum is worn to beyond minimum tolerance spec.

Default max dia.

The Autozone website lists the maximim diameter as 9.060" for the '63 Lemans brake drum. Don't know if that is correct, but it seems ok since our cars have 9" brakes.

The GM part # for the master cylinder rebuild kit is 5461648. This kit is only correct for all 1962 Pontiac models with standard brakes. I prefer to use genuine NOS GM parts on my car whenever possible but that's just my preference.

Even though my master cylinder was an NOS part when I installed it 4 years ago and works fine, I still like to keep rebuild kits on hand for the future.

NOS is nice, would want to inspect for aging signs though....

Need to buy 4 brake hoses for my car, any difference Raybestos or Dorman?
Dorman is a little cheaper.

Rock Auto carries both:

I just want to point out something with the '63 break hoses. The right rear break hose is bi-sexual. Yes, both ends are female. I bought this set a few years ago. (see below) All four should be made longer to make installation better, but they do fit and are compatible with all connections. Not sure if the '62 are like that also. Many thanks......can probably cross-reference in a paper book to find the single female/female in NAPA/Raybestos/Dorman. Meanwhile, the steel braided hoses look reasonable and would probably last a lifetime. I will check if female/female applies to '62 also.

'61-62 is different, does not have the same single female/female rear as '63.

Ironically, I believe I found that '65 impala drum brake hoses were identical yet a little longer (3/8-1/2 inch ) than the '62 Tempest, not to mention readily available at any parts place for a fraction of the price. Bring your original to make sure.

As far as the master cylinder kit, I too use Deco Moraine kits and never had an issue yet. Worth the money to me. 1 inch bore kits are plentiful.
