Default 5 Dead: Mouse carnage!

It's been a pretty hash winter & the little furry guys have been in the garage, and hungry.
Set some traps & in 2 days I have 5 mice.
They can do a great deal of damage if left to their own so I hope I got 'um before
they destroyed upholstery, parts or something.
Keep an eye on your garage, it's that time of year.

Notice the emphasis of the toes?

Knowing how this crew operates, I was pretty much expecting something like that, although I wasn’t expecting major emphasis on the toes!

Have a friend with a mint condition '56 Lincoln MkII with the original oxblood red, black , and white leather interior. You guessed it...a rat got in and ate holes in the seats, doorpanels, headliner, and even the dash pad. He had it redone for $18,000, and it's nice, but it no longer is original. This happened 2 years ago. He had to sell his Harley to pay for it (I guess it wasn't insured) Either way, rodents are no joke.

Default It's that time of year again

When the nights take a turn for the chilly, the mice start getting active in the barn.
I got some new economy traps at Dollar Tree last month and they are steadily building their kill tally marks. The first night I set out all four traps, they each had a mouse in them the next morning. I heard one trap go off ten minutes after I set it, wilst I was setting a second trap nearby. The second night, I had two out of four catch a mouse. After I found out how deadly these where, I bought another 4-pac next time I went to Dollar Tree.
They are a bit of a pain to arm the kill-bar but the benefit of that is no mouse gets a free snack. These things are super touchy. You 'bout have to hold your breath and be safe-cracker steady while you arm them & set them in place.

I had two fairly good sized mice in a couple of the new traps today but check out the size of that big fella in the old Victor rat trap. I placed the standard mouse trap next to it for a scale reference comparison. It's nose to butt length is the same as the base.
Notice one of the springs on the old rat trap is broken. I don't know if it would be strong enough to kill a squirel anymore but it has been luring mice to their doom under the exterior structure of the barn. 3 kills in the last week.

I did the same thing last week. 5 mice in 2... or maybe 3...days in my garage. All on the same trap. I keep the peppermint oil in my car and haven't had any damage there in the couple of years that I've used it. I think it really works.
