Thumbs up

Very cool.

Now I have to ask, is this one of the three barrels that where discovered still submerged in the No. 1 turret some fifteen years ago? If so, how did they dispose of the other two?
Or maybe those three guns remain intact on the Arizona's hull and this is one of nine that were salvaged in the 1940's.

Also, the 16/50 from BB63 must be a service replacement spare, or a previous burned out barrel.

I went with the In Country Vietnam Veterans group for a private viewing before they were restored & put at the WWII memorial at Westley Bolin Plaza. Very somber event. Is great to see them in place infront of the state capitol! Here is a older google view of the Plaza before the guns were placed. The vietnam memorial is center at bottom, sort of a round area with a curved path to the left & up.. The Arizona memorial is far right, sort of long with a round area on each end. Left round area is where the USS Arizona. flag pole is. State capitol is at far left center, copper dome.
