I had W2's on my engine. never had a problem with them. You will need a round port header. Mine came from Hedman.

Two shops I knew had worked on Wenzler heads called them "butter" heads by one and the other called them "peanut butter" heads...a heat treat issue I am told

The wenzlers head was the first aftermarket alum head made for pontiac back then they had soft casting as said by other but as of 10 plus year ago his casting got much better and around that time he started making a olds head for rocket racing. In there day people like john langer and Scott Rex run them but is he still making and selling today ??? Have you talk to him or just on his old website ???

John Bailey speaks from experience, I have his old set and they work but there is a ton of work done to them.

I was just looking at the same website yesterday and was thinking that for the price that sounded pretty good on the Series II heads. It seems most of the Wenzler info on the web is old and by now I would like to believe they have resolved many of the quality issues. I did drop an email to Larry and if I do not hear back I will call next week.

I would be interested in knowing the quality of his heads also. I looked at his site late last week and the fully assembled heads are within my budget and would love to purchase. But if they are going to be trouble I will wait and save e-heads.

Please post back here on any info you find with Wenzler.

Thanks,
Mark

Got an email response today……

"The web price has not been updated in quite a while. The current cost of a complete set of heads is $1,850. These heads do require close attention at assembly as the intake pushrods are canted at a 2 degree angle away from the intake port. This allows for additional widening of the port. The holes for alternator and power steering are present but no accommodation for air conditioning is made.
Larry"

Last i knew Langer's old series 2 wenzlers were being run by larry quinn several years back before larry went to the CV'1's. Granted, these werent out of the box series 2's, But between John and Larry, they have been run a lot, and run hard and i believe the castings were fine. I dont know the extent of the work done by BES when they did them for john, but the castings themselves didnt seem to be a problem with big lift and lots of rpm's.

Those old Langer/Quinn heads are now located in southeast Indiana.

The 4 sets of these that I have ported never flowed the out of the box numbers , the intake side never flowed the 288 cfm, they did 265@28", and the exh side was down by 15 cfm if I recall right!
Not that this is all that much of a problem as near all the aftermarket heads I have had on my bench have done the same to one degree or another, be they for a Pontiac or not.
The one thing I really have a issue on with the Wenzlers is the lack of short turn height on the exh side, it's really not much more than a factory RA4 head which makes shooting for exh flow numbers above 230 a lot more work if you need such!
