Default 2500 suburban or gmc yukon xl

Does gm make these anymore in a 2500 series with at least a 6.0 or the 8.1?

The 2500 comes standard with the 6.0, and until 05/06 you could get the 8.1.

If you have the choice get the 8.1, the mpg isn't much different but you get better towing and the Allison transmission.

I can't find anything on a 2014 suburban in 2500, only a 2013?

Chevy is no longer making the 2500 Suburban. Thought I would chime in since I've done some research on the issue; I'll be in the market for a new SUV when I return from Korea in 2015. I sold my 2003 4x4 Excursion (7.3) before I left the states 7 months ago.

Thought about a slightly used 2013 Suburban 2500, but the 6.0 doesn't have the guts that I need for towing; only 382 ft/lbs. Looking for 500 ft/lbs of torque.

Next option is a 2001-2006 with the 8.1 and the 4L80E/4L85E (2003-2006 got the better 4L85E), but the 8.1 has 455 ft/lbs and it's FREAKING EXPENSIVE to mod the 8.1.

Next option is to pick up a 1996-1999 K2500 Suburban with a Vortec 454 and 4L80E. You can get a clean one for about $5,000, which leaves you $ in the bank to stroke the 454 to 496, add some aftermarket heads, long tube headers, etc. You should be able to hit 600 ft/lbs without trying too hard...

I have a 2003 Yukon XL 8.1 and after some fuel issues, consisting of a fuel pump and regulater, and a dash problem (Replaced for $200), I have over 200K on it. With the exception of the fuel mileage, been very happy with it and drive almost 100 a day on it. I would like to get a smaller SUV, but the way people drive near where I work, my life is worth more to me than fuel savings at I would get at this point!! Seems everyday some econobox kamakaze is out to kill me let alone the deer popping out. Saw a corrolla pull right out in front of a bus hauling at 55 just yesterday AM. Not sure the Kroller driver made it! Not sure why people gamble there lives like that unless it means nothing to them.

I have a 2006 Suburban 4wd with the 8.1 I'd like to sell. 90,000 miles, never had a problem with it. Towed my 28ft enclosed easily. I bought a motorhome to tow with is the only reason I'm selling it.

GMAN005, if I see any for sale I will pass along.

I've got a 2001 8.1 Black 2500 4x4 so tend to look at any I see for sale.

I rarely drive it, but its nice to have when I need it.

Second one I've owned, I loved those 496..."piston slap" and all....

WOW....sorry to hear that John. Everyone OK?

How about a crew cab Duramax with a nice cap for the puppy? You can install a rear heater in the bed area......and close the slider glass he starts drooling on your back seat passengers! LOL!

That's what I was thinking. I knew that in 01 thru 03 they didn't but after I finally retired from sales @ the GMC dealership I didn't know whether they figured out how to alter the frame and floorpan to get the Allison to fit or not. We never stocked any 2500 XL's, but I special ordered a couple with the 8.1 gas engine. The customer wanted the Allison, but of course it wasn't available. The 01 that I ordered was the most expensive vehicle ever sold at that dealership. It had EVERY available option plus we added a few dealer options, including an entertainment system (DVD player which wasn't available from the factory in 01). I'm thinking the MSRP was around 60k, and this was 2001!
