Somewhere I have pics of a '67 safari wagon that I took at Carlisle a few years back. Can't remember what power train it had.

Talking WEEKEND PROJECTS...

...ANYONE
As I think of all the shows/events I've attended I can say I have never seen a '67 SAFARI WAGON.
If one was to be had in "project" condition I would think it almost impossible to replace any missing side panel trim.

I started going back through this thread to see if they used the fenders fins on a Lemans wagon. Then it occurred to me that we are talking about Tempest wagons only. As they didn't make a Lemans wagon.

Man, ya learn something new every day.

It took me a little time, but I found it. I know this was at Carlisle, and the date on the photos is 4/24/10, so it was Spring Carlisle. It was a 326 powered car...

Is it just me or does the woodgrain make the car look a lot longer.

Rex, it does look longer... tho it's just an optical delusion.

Cuz, that was the truth. In southern central NY [Otsego and Delaware counties where we were] back then there weren't any 4 lane highways like today. Most of the roads we rode on were 2 lane back roads, and most of them were dirt roads. Even meeting a car on the main roads was a scarry proposition. Especailly at night with no shoulders, and cars running with headlights only. Remember, back then parking lights weren't on with the headlights. One headlight out made ya real nervous.

My first car back when I was 14 was a '66 Lemans OHC-6 with 1bbl and the ST300 2 speed.
It looked real cool, but talk about "relaxed" acceleration. It would shift into second at around 55 MPH at full throttle.

Those old ST300s were something else. My 1st car was a '66 LeMans with a 326 & a ST300 two speed automatic. It would shift into 2nd at 70mph at wide open throttle. I often would hold it in 1st gear up to 90mph. The one time I tried to take it up to 100mph in 1st gear, it spun the bearings. I was pretty upset when it happened, but I ended up getting a RAIII 400 & a turbo 400 trans when I repaired it. Could of been worse!

Mine would shift into 2nd at about 70 under full throttle as well. I had a 2.56 rear in it back in the days when I had the 326/300 combo. I never bothered with the manual shifting at 90 mph though. Engine was tired from a lot of miles (almost 300,000) and I didnt want to push it. It was my only car at the time. I used to like when people would say this tranny (and the Powerslide) had a "passing gear". It was just kicking down into first.

Talking It's a sickness...

Hello,
My name is Jeff and I have an OHC addiction.

If it's anything OHC related I might have it.
On that note, I was looking for anything regarding the 4BC engine option such as a code.
In the '67 Acc Booklet it has it listed, I guess the displacement was the "Code"
So for $63 you could get an OHC 6 4BC Engine;

1967 was the only year they offered this.

Here are SPRINT OPTION listings for 66-69

Jeff,

If you look at the window sticker it states "ZE" as the code.

Interesting; I was thinking like most option codes it would have been assigned a #.
The ZE is a block code for the '69 AT.
I would assume this is the code on your block as well.

A-Body Engine Codes;
ZK, ZF, ZS w/MT. ZN, ZG, ZM w/AT '66 1BC
ZD w/MT. ZE w/AT '66 4BC
ZK, ZS w/MT. ZN, ZM w/AT '67 1BC
ZD, ZR w/MT. ZE, ZL w/AT '67 4BC
ZK w/MT. ZN w/AT '68 1BC
ZD w/MT. ZE w/AT '68 4BC
ZC, ZK w/MT. ZF, ZN w/AT '69 1BC
ZD, ZH w/MT. ZE, ZL w/AT '69 4BC

Ok, I'm jealous!
