Scorpion throttle bodies
Any one have experience with the 2000 or 1150 CFM TB's? Are they really 1.5" tall?

Yes I have an Accufab, that is only about 1 1/2 inches tall.
About half the height of a Q jet. Visit a local Pick a Part, look for these air cleaner spacers. They are found on Chev. and GMC Pick UP's. Because the throttle body is so much lower the a Q jet, One is required to raise the air cleaner,to clear the throttle arm. The spacer has a nice hose nipple to connect the PCV hose.

I take it that the Scorpion and Accufab are the same part just different box? Look about the same.
Ollie - cost aside, why did you not go with a FAST or Accel dual sync distributor? Believe they are 1x cam triggers but dont know what the crank pickup is. You made your own dist. shaft correct? |

I like the ford cam sensor arrangement. I'll pick on up cheap on ebay to use for reference. (Also running COP setup. Planning on using LQ9/ 5.3L truck coils). Being a Hall effect sensor, the GM ECU should not have an issue..hopefully. Next is the crank pickup which will be 24x. Will plan for 58x as well for future reference. Was hoping to have both in the 'distributor' hosing but being the dist is a half speed, the pick up wheel would have 48 + 2 blanks for 24x system or 116 + 2 blanks for 58x system. Concern would be a sensor small enough for pick up the peaks w/o making a large diameter ring which at that point you would just put the crank pick up on the crank snout in front. Similar to the attached.
Why does the can sensor go 180 deg (1 crank rev) vs a single point like removing teeth from a stock dist pick up coil reluctor? Last edited by takid455; 01-04-2014 at 12:44 PM. |

Was thinking of installing one in front of the timing gear but fear the extra 'noise' created by the chain would affect the sensor readings, no?
Where did you get the Accufab unit? Found a few supply houses with cost from 500-530 for the 4150 unit and 600-630 for the 4500 unit. |

I was thinking of modifying a Ford cam sensor. The housing is about 1/2 inch shorter the Pontiac distributor from the block mounting down.
I have CAD drawings for a modified housing for the Pontiac Engine. 36-1 Trigger wheel mounted to back side of crank balancer.
