Default Neutral safety switch

Did 67 GTOS's with 4-speeds have a neutral safety switch? If not I'm thinking about putting one in for safety. I'm putting in 100% new wiring with the American Autowire classic update series. The 2 wires to complete the starter solenoid circuit are designed to connect to either the switch for an automatic or connect together for a manual. So it wouldn't take much to add a neutral safety switch; just fab a bracket to hold the switch.
