Neat idea, but would like to see how it works on a tougher to split wood like elm or hackberry.

My dad's in the propane biz so I've never had to split wood, but that's a pretty sweet idea

Had one in VT used it alot, had a car overload spring on it and weights. was made in Northern Canada. Looked similar, but not identical, was made in 60's
it is easy to use
worked best on "soft" hardwoods.
nothing split the oak well.

Wouldn't work ten minutes for me except for making kindling. I get all my own wood off our 12 acre mountain top, nothing but red oak, gnarled up old cherry, hard and soft maple. Lots twisted up knotty wood that the 30 ton splitter has to work hard to split. Any really good straight hardwood is worth way more going to the mill than using as fire wood. But if you have a forest of easy to split wood (some people do), that looks like a good machine to do it. Wouldn't want to be the liability insurance holder for a company that make those though

I like the way Oak splits. It's "hero" wood to split.
