Default Modern owner checking in

I was cruising by and thought I would stay awhile. Hope you guys don't mind a modern GTO owner hanging out. Looks like a great place to come by, kick my shoes off, and enjoy the company of other like minded Pontiac folks.

Here's my 2005 GTO:

Some of my other Pontiacs:
1987 Fiero GT
1997 turbo Grand Prix
2008 Grand Prix

Not much- short shifter and axleback. Not planing on going too crazy with it.

My other cars:
Removed the M90 off the 97 GTP and converted to a NA intake manifold. Turbo is a PT-61

Fiero:

08 GP looks like every other one as it's my daily and still retains factory everything.

Welcome. I also have an PBM 04 GTO for my daily driver along with my 68 GTO's. Would like to of had the 05/06 with the extra looks and HP, but in Oct'04 with the 05's on the lot, they were almost giving away the 04's. Just turned 90K on it and although it's on the 5th automatic trans and 3rd diff I still love it.

Welcome! Don't expect wide-spread love for these cars around here. Most are respectful even if they don't hold the new Goats in high regard, but there are others who are downright brutal.

I've bought (new) all three years and currently own '04 and '06, both A4s. After ten years, my '04 has had wrenches on ONLY lug nuts, skid plate, and oil drain plug. At 45k the car had its fifth state inspection and passed with the ORIGINAL brakes. It's starting to feel like the shocks are getting soft, but other than that still drives terrific.

Oh yeah, I did have to replace the driver-side tie-rod, and also the battery and wiper blades. But that's it.

The '06 has only 5k miles but is still one hundred percent original.

Welcome to the PY Forums!

Not sure where you are (your location is normally listed under your post count, hint hint), but I hope you are able to keep your Freedom Machines inside during the bad weather.

This is a great place for banter, Q&A and camaraderie. Hope you find all three here.

Happy New Year!

5th trans and 3rd diff? What is done to it? You are definetly a dedicated owner. And I here I was thinking being on my 3rd transmission on my GP is bad. Then again GM decided to build the 4t65E-HD out of glass. But I guess they weren't expecting so much popularity with the w-bodies. And I'm sure it never crossed the engineers mind that a few of us would actually rip the blower of and go snail.

I'll have to hunt for some pics of your ride. I still have yet to own a TA and would love to add a 4th gen to my collection. The LS1 TA's came out when I was in high school and was the car I always wanted, but could never afford to own at the time.

Nice to see another modern GTO owner around these parts. 5K miles? Holy crap dude you ever dust it off and drive it? As far as widespread love for the modern GTO's meh it is what it is. I can understand some peoples dislikes for the modern GTO's, but IMO it lit a fire back into the Pontiac name. They didn't have a family mans "muscle" car and needed something. Hell, arguably Pontiac didn't really have anything that attracted the sports car owner. Instead of designing something from the ground up that would take years to produce why not borrow from the Holden line. Even in retrospect it still makes perfect sense. I honestly see the GTO more as a gentlemens coupe than anything else, but no one can argue its not that most powerful GTO made even if it is rebadged.

I'm down south in Texas so the weather isn't too bad. Unfortunately I only have room for 2 in my garage so my TGP and GTO get dibs. Fortunately, my wife is very understanding of my Pontiac obsession and how the garage is mine and not hers.....ever.
