Default 69 Sprints w/3 Speed Automatics

Anyone know how many came this way? Are there any left with pictures available?

Okay you used the 69 OHC Sprint list I posted. I had no idea (or was not paying attention) that Pontiac offered a 3 speed automatic in Sprints in 69 only. What was the transmissions letter/number code designation and gearing? Can I assume that it was the same 3 speed auto that went into the 350/400 ?

As always thanks for the help Jeff.

They used a short shaft TH 350. Guessing they tailored the torque converter to the engine.
My '69 bird was an auto, swapped it out the early '80s. Whole different car with the stick.
Also the TH350 was a huge improvement over the TH 300 2 speed!
I have to believe they built a whole lot more than 2000 in '69

The Fred Simmonds list shows that only 482 FB Sprints came with automatics.

Best pic I have at the moment. Ill Post up more when the weathers nicer and I can get better ones. The car isnt perfect but it has a history, like they all do. It'll need a restoration. Not as badly as the green HT I have but none the same.

Mine not perfect either! Is everything there and does it drive? Interesting that you're in Wisconsin. Recently I have (on the Internet) bumped into other OHC guy that are just hours away from where I had lived and never heard of. Lots of cars out there just sitting and waiting to be discovered.

Get your part ordered and fix it up so you n drive it this summer!

Oh ya it runs drives ok. Wouldn't trust it to go to Texas though. Needs top and interior work. Bought from original family. The owner was a gm janesville worker. He special ordered the car. I've had it since 07. You from Wisc. ? Lots of cars waiting to be discovered is right. Reason why this car isn't restored yet. Bought an 88 Gta and a 09 g8 Gxp since then so no funds.

I am originally from IL but I have spent a lot of time in WIsc. and traveled every road at least twice. There is a fella in Milwaukee that has a 69 Sprint I recently met (forums) and one other I cant remember where.

You are the 7th 69 Sprint that has been documented to still exist and drive at least that I know of so its good that you came out of hiding . I met a great guy just miles from me that has a 69 Sprint Vert with 22 options that I am trying to document. Car new cost MORE than most Ram Airs. If you have the PHS post it.
