Default 1966 Catalina Safari Wagon $6500

So I just purchased this kick A$$ wagon and now I have to sell it. A lot of good, some bad and some so.

It's a 1966 Catalina Wagon that has had the interior swapped with a Bonneville Wagon. I honestly did not even look at the trim tag to confirm colors on the car because it did not matter to me. It was restored about 10 years ago and is showing some use. This is not a trailer queen, but sure could pull one

421 YH block with 46 heads, Q-jet and HEI added. Power bench seat, Tilt, Day/nigh mirror, power steering upgraded to fast ratio, power brakes dual res and front disc brakes. New AC added but not finished. vinyl top, Power rear window, split center seat with 3rd row. AM/FM aftermarket added with kick panel speakers, Electronic Temp and oil pressure gauge added. Clock works great. Trailer hitch and air shocks for towing if needed, fan clutch and shroud.

Runs and drives great. Took it on a 210 mile trip over the weekend. Starts up on first crank, has an exhaust leak that I am going to try and resolve (leaking at the down pipe connection) Leaks some oil like most of these do. Drives straight down the road and stops excellent. lights all appear to work.

Interior is in very good condition, appears to all be original interior from a Bonneville. Door panels were electric and this car has manual windows, so there is an opening on the driver door. Black door panels would be easier to find from a 4 door or wagon. Headliner is not attached at the rear, but in good condition, should be able to fix. Carpet is nice, but is fadded. Dash is nice, appears to have been dyed black. Steering wheel is in great condition. Does have cracks, but is better that a lot out there.

Exterior is in overall good condition. Chrome is all there, Rear bumper is excellent, front would be a good core to replate. Grills are very nice along with the bezels, The car does have some rust with the worst being in front of the left rear wheel on the dog leg area. I have a cut from a car to patch this area. Paint is showing it's age. The guy that owned it for the last 10 years did put some scratches in the paint, but not horrible either. They did add some faint ghost flames down the sides on the lower foot or so. It is subtle and done with some taste. The vinyl top is in very nice shape. The underside looks to be in good condition. I have not had it up on a lift though to check it out.

Your looking at a solid driver that you could tinker with and still be able to drive it anywhere. It's not perfect, but I am not asking for perfect money either. I will get some more pics of the exterior, I just ran out of time today to do that. Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer. You can email me at hansenb44@hotmail.com or PM me here. I put my set of rally wheels on the car, but they are not included, the car would come with the Cagier wheels. $6500 OBO

Unique car with the vinyl roof and no rack. The side rail and rear utility lights are cool options. I'd like to find that rear light for mine.

Few things, yes, same car as on CL in Madison WI. I think I got a great deal on it and thats why I purchased it. I did not buy it to flip it, but it turns out that is what is going to happen for a few reasons that I have already went into on this forum. I also have money into the car. title and license above purchase price. replaced a wheel bearing on the rt rear, fixed some wiring mess that was under the dash for the gauges and an air horn that was on the car, oil change, and several other fixes in the short time that I have had it. By the time i sell the car after negotiations, i am not looking to make a whole lot and even at that, the car is still worth every penny or more based on how wagons have been doing lately.

PONTIACSOUTH, please respect the forum rules, your comments did nothing for this sale and are not appreciated.

I think it is a super car at $6500. You cannot replace an interior on a wagon for that. As I said, If I had the Money...... On another note. Brad Is a Great guy and I would buy from him again in a heartbeat. Good luck with the sale.

Have had some traffic, but no buyers yet. Just wanted to make sure I represent the car correctly here. It is a great driver. Older ammature resto, a great ten footer if you will. Interior is nice as is the drivetrain. There are some scratches and such that have been simply touched up. If you are looking for a perfect car, this is not the one and not the price either. If you are looking for a fun cruiser that you can drive and tinker with, this would be it or just drive it the way it is and enjoy. I'll cut the bull, I need to get $5500 out of it. no need to mess around.

P.S. Thanks for the comments above!! Enjoy the pics.

It's a good thing you are so far away! Love your wagon, GLWS. { I still say you should keep it... }

I agree, and the car can be had with them, but I would need an additional $500 for them because they are not included with this sale. That's about what I figure it will cost me to replace them. So $6000 with or $5500 w/out the rally wheels.

I should add that there are parts that come with the car also. Under dash vents for the ac, trim parts and some other misc.

pm responded. Had a lot of calls, few showings, responses have been very good, but no cash in my hand yet. I want to get it on a lift soon, but not sure when. Will likely go on ebay by the end of the week.

Thanks

Dang... I didn't see this before. The fact that it says Injunuity, and I own a company called Engenuity, and I did once own a 1966 Catalina Safari wagon indictates that I should buy this car.
