Shipping a reconditioned gas tank...
I am in process of buying a reconditioned gas tank from fellow PY'r for my 60. They are not reproduced..He in CT I'm in VA.
What's best way to ship as shipping "used" gas tanks is generaly a NO-No.?? Any past experiences?? Thanks Troy

Are you in a hurry to get it Troy? If you're in a bind I can bring it to Rockville, MD next time I go to the in-laws if you'll pay the difference in gas from my wife's car vs. my truck. I don't think it'd fit in her car. Not sure when the next time I'm going is, though.
30 mpg for her car vs. 12 mpg for my truck.  I did ship a '71 GP tank to Kieth Vrabek in PA a few years ago. Just wrapped it up in multiple layers of cardboard and shipped UPS. Never heard any complaints, so I assume it made it OK.
