Default Boss Bird Lives Again!

We had the funny car out this weekend for it's first testing since last year's fire. We ran once Friday at the Kil Kare/POCI race and then returned to Kil Kare Saturday to run in between their normal weekend racers.

Total of (4) runs. First one was an intentional 330' shutoff. (3) more runs were powered past the 1/8th mile.

With a verrrrry soft tuneup and dropping one cylinder, it ran a best 1/8th mile of 4.433 (compare to our best ever 4.335 1/8th mile from the 6.507 run last year).

No apparent engine damage. Mike will be disassembling the engine this week to look things over.

Next stop.....Norwalk

Eric

Fridays Pass was flat awesome! That thing was on a rail!
It was great talking/working with you and your crew that day also. Glad to see you got more runs in on Saturday. Can't wait to see it run at Norwalk in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for your help (and Paul and all the others behind the scenes) organizing/running the event. Most folks probably don't appreciate the headaches involved with that sort of undertaking.

Eric
That my friend is an understatement!
We only had about half the cars we were hoping/basing everything on. As GTO GEORGE stated in another thread, I wish more people would have came out and supported the event but its not like this hasn't happened before with prior all Pontiac race events. Kil Kare had a test and tune the night before and there were a bunch of cars (Pontiacs) there that night mixed in with their regular crowd. However, the T&T did not go good at all and there were ALOT of PO'ed people and that may have had an affect on our turnout.
See ya in a couple of weeks.

Now I know who you are Mike.
That pass definitely was sweet, especially watching it from the starting line!

The Bird looked like it was on a rail and sounded awesome on the run I watched about 3pm saturday. Cant remember the numbers but it looked like you lifted about 1000 ft. mark. I do remember the number in the 1/8 being close to the Quick car qualifying. Congratulations !

Wishing the very best to Mike and Eric. Be safe and go fast! I am confident this will be the quickest/fastest Pontiac soon and for a long time. It is just a matter of holding the loud pedal down the length of the track. 5 sec ETs coming and high top speeds too! Once this car is dialed in, it will be on top and likely stay there unless there is another car of this caliber I am not aware of.

Since we were working on the tuneup and trying to preserve the hardware, i lifted before 1000 ft every run. I expect I'll run it out the back door at Norwalk. Thanks for everyone's kind words of support.

Eric

Eric ,
Norwalk is special, almost all racers take it up a notch for this race........kinda like SHOWING OFF! Gets rid all of the BS........same playing field. I have other races I race at through out the year........but Norwalk (Pontiac Nationals) will always be special!!

Video from our 2nd run on Saturday. Not enough wheel speed for a good burnout yet, lazy tuneup, dropping one cylinder...

Hey Eric if you need a back up driver for Norwalk I'm thinking I could squeeze it in my schedule!
