Default crower cam

I have a crower cam. Its a 60919 cam. Im wondering how this would work in a 400 bored .030 with the 8 eyebrow reliefs pistons. Im using a set of 670 unported heads with log manifolds. Quadajet intake and carb. Not sure how far the pistons are down in the hole. I know its not a lot of info but its all I know.

Very poor choice for any 400 engine unless you have at least 10.5 to 1 compression, 11 or more would be better, a LOT of converter and at least 3.73 gears. That cam is a near duplicate of the original 041 grind, 304/314 duration, 231/240 @ .050", and 113LSA. Even in a 455 in needs at least 9.5 to 1 compression to be effective, and vacuum will still be pretty "low" below 1000rpms........Cliff

Poor cam choice for that engine combo in my opinion, the log manifolds will choke it.

Great cam for the right scenario-just not yours!

"I dont get it either. Having been a Pontiac guy for 27+ years and had at least 15 Pontiacs, one with 536,000 miles on it now and 3 engines later, having a non ported 400 doing mid 12s in a 3810 lb car and being president of a 200 member Pontiac club for two years and being alot of their go to guy to fix their cars, I just dont get it. I have heard and witnessed the infamous RA IV cam in a smog 400 more than once. It sounds good but wont do crap on a low compression motor."

Forgot to mention. This is a 4 speed car with 3.08's. What would be the compression on this engine?

What would be a good street cam for this set up?

Guestimate on compression ratio - 9.25 to 9.5:1 due to the large volume of the 8 relief pistons that are likely .030 down in the hole.

Either the Summit 2801 cam or the Pontiac 068 cam would be a decent choice.
