Default Repro door trim 1965

Do these repro door mirrors (PY catalog & others) mount on the original brackets. If not do the repro brackets use the same screw holes?

How about the door handles I've seen on eBay are they any good?

Mirriors mount on original brackets or you can use the one provided with new mirror.
Can't speak to the door handles quality.

I purchased 1 mirror a few years back.
Within a month of everyday driving the pivot got so loose it would wind up pointing down within a block of driving

My experience has been real hit or miss. I've had good and bad mirrors [and exterior door handles] from just about all the vendors.

I would be so frosted by a NEW mirror that became a quitter, esp when 50 YEARS later the originals are NOT.

...I wonder what the customer service policy is on something like that. (free (including round trip postage) exchange?)

Default Repro Door Handle update

I got a pair of the repro door handles (ebay) and they are BEAUTIFUL! As nice as originals where it shows and the edges underneath that don't show are nicer than originals.

There's a problem though.

The passenger side lined up perfectly with the splines and the new one mounted nice and level like an original.

The drivers side however is not level. the splines don't line up in the level position so it has to be mounted one spline above or below level. (I put it on below level)

It doesn't look like there is an adjustment on the splined shaft part mounted in the door.

Anybody else come across this?

Default Try This......

Can you slightly rotate the splined section where it bolts onto the door? You would have to remove the door trim to do this but one it is off the car you could put the handle back on and make your adjustments.

You might have to file out the mounting holes slightly? Once it is lined up, just reassemble the door trim.

Does it do the same thing when mounted on the front door? It could be the remote in the rear door has a problem.

I had the door panel completely off to lube the glass channels & door lock and checked to see if there was any room for adjustment and I couldn't see any. Filing the holes would probably be the only way.

I only got one pair just in case I didn't like the piece. I'm going to contact them and see what they say.

I'm going to get another pair for the front but will try the other supplier, maybe there is a difference.

I didn't try it on the front door. I did the backs because those windows were harder to raise and lower and wanted to grease the tracks. I don't think the front would be any different because the one I took off was in the correct position and the splines were in perfect condition.
