Frame connectors
Looking for a easy install set of bolt in frame connectors for a 73 Trans Am. Any suggestions on good priced set? Also plan on installing Caltracs,unless there are other cheaper and just as effective solution to prevent wheel hop.

I am a fan of protouring f-body connectors.
Also, you might just get good rear springs to fix your wheel hop. |

I put tubular frame connectors on. I think from RARE. Fit was nice just a bit tight on the rear rail.
I went with cal tracs to fix my wheel hop. I had a brand new set of 5 leaf springs that would rattle everything loose in the car when it tried to hook at the track. They were easy to install. I had to replace the front bushing with a supplied solid one and bolt the new spring pad up. Just loosen them up for street driving and you won't notice they are installed.

Cal tracs are much better than the slide-a-links.

CE bolt in frame connectors work well..easy to install other than possibly spinning the subframe cage nut.I also weld my front section where it meets the frame rail.

I know they aren't really what you asked for but I will say the DSE sfc s are very nice. Make the floor connected and loose no ground clearance. There are some install pics on the first page of my build thread..

Me too...
Another bolt-in CE user. I ended up welding both ends of these units while the '72 TA was secured on a frame rack after discovering that the bolt holes had elongated from the bolted connectors moving against the sub frames. The single best mod that you can make on a sub-frame style chassis, IMO. The DSE and BMR units that install partially through the floor pans are a better choice since they offer a nice increase in ground clearance over the CEs.

I use the bolt on slapper bars the cheap ones.
My cars 60 ft times are 1.40-1.41 you can pick them up at swap meets for cheap. The ones on my car only cost me $5.00 now thats cheap. GT. |

I just finished this project yesterday on my 76. Used the Jegster subframe connectors from Jeg's and Lakewood slapper bars. I had to cut off the inside rear downturn on the Lakewood bars to get the rear stabilizer bar mounted, but that was an easy fix. Both the connectors and traction bars went on easily. Welded the connectors on at both ends. This makes the frame a solid unit and can be cut out later if need be. Used lakewood slapper bars for years on my 67 bracket car with good success (average 1.39 60ft.), and are a whole lot cheaper than caltracs. I attempted to put a set of CE J-bolt slapper bars on this car. I spent a full day on them and never got them to go on. The J-bolts would not line up with the fixed brackets on the bars. The older Lakewoods(67-69)had a clamp that went on the front J-bolts and they worked great. Now I am stuck with these JUNK CE slapper bars that won't fit. I bought them new for $75 from an individual who decided not to use them. Thought I was saving money. Plan on contacting CE about the non fitment of their bars.

I have a set of Frame connectors as well as Solid Body mounts from PTF Still need to install them
I also have a set of Slide-A- Links still to install as well...

I have the Alston frame connector's on my formula, they can be bolted on or welded, I bolted them on but had to drill holes on the frame rails to do this.
