'68 Firebird Brake Booster.
I'm looking into getting my brake booster rebuilt and restored. How can I tell if it's a original unit to my car? My Firebird came with factory power disk brakes. Don't want to spend the money on a incorrect unit! Here are some pics. Also there's a A8 stamped on the shaft Thanks Scott

The A8 means that the booster is from a 1968 A body.A Firebird one will be stamped F8.

68 disk brake booster should be 8515. Code will be stamped on one of the mating tabs, opposite side will be the days of the year

Looks like 107th day of the year. What's the build date?

That confirms it's not original. I assume the other side of the tab isn't 8515.....

I would like to ask a question related to the brake booster. I was pulling mine out last night and was looking for some codes on the tabs. I only saw one tab with a code and on both sides it was 29.
The brake bar shaft had A8 on it also. Anyone have a clue what this was for and I guess it's not the original and not worth a rebuild? Thanks. |
