Kind of a basic question here, but what do you guys like to use for ignition wires and wire looms that provide good fit & function? There are soooo many options out there for various looms and brackets, just curious what has worked well on your pontiac?

I have a 66 A-body with RAM Air manifolds & HEI with straight plug boots that hit the steering shaft. Looks like 45 degree angle boots are desired. I was looking at DUI part# C9067, but those appear to be 90 deg boots... From previous posts on this site, it appears that Taylor wires get a thumbs up, so the real question is centered around the mounting hardware.

Suggestions and/or pictures would be awesome!

Nothing really special here, but always happy to share my setup. Straight boots here, with brackets that keep the wires off the steering shaft. Some of my wires are a little long, and I should cut them to fit and refix the terminals, but have not done so yet. Cant really tell here, but I keep the #5 and #7 wires separate using the blue plastic wire looms.

psw has a good thing going there.

Also, keeping #5 & #7 apart is a good idea if possible to prevent cross-talk (they fire in sequence).

If you want to get tweak-o about it, making all plug wires the same length will give you equal energy at all plugs (unless you run metal plug wires).

If you can bend the boots a bit it makes it easier to avoid the steering. My msd wires can do that. I always use cut to fit wires.

One day my car died on the road. Plug wire had been sheared by the steering shaft. Learned my lesson about the pre cut wired from parts stores.

One plastic keeper up closer to the distributor. Taylor home made with 135 degree boots and the writing rubbed off.

I make my own plug wire looms from Sam's Club plastic cutting boards. Easy to cut, easy to drill. Thick enough to be strong. NOT especially heat-resistant; so be careful with placement.

Thought I had photos of a Pontiac application, but--sorry--I don't have any. Seems to me I had to build a metal bracket to fit the firewall end of each cylinder head, and then I attached the cutting-board wire looms to that bracket.

I like the look Sweet... Are those the Mr. Gasket "universal" looms? Were you able to use pre-cut wires, or did you cut your own?

I like those also. I was planning on using them on my new build but I will mount them so that the wires are stacked vertically along the side of the valve cover.

Dang, I don't want to post my old photos now, with you guys looking all sharp!

I use a combo of the BBC and SBC Moroso looms, and I drill a hole in the bracket/plastic and run a screw through it so it doesn't fall off. I use a stand alone 4 hole as the wires turn over the cover so they stay separate and off the cover. Also like the 4 hole stand up Moroso has.

Since I have A/C, and they don't make the angle bracket I need, I bend it in a vise. (second pic).

I use black wires now, the MSD 8.5 with multi-angle boots.

Here is what I ended up with using Taylor cut-to-fit wires with 135 deg boots and the MR. Gasket aluminum wire looms. About $100 total, so not too bad. I am happy with the end results... Straight boots would have been better on 6 of the 8 plugs, but wanted the 135's to clear the steering shaft.

I use make them yourself wires with 90* boots with no problems with the 90 you have no problems taking the boot off the spark plug 1/4 turn and pull---BOB

I agree on the 90 degree boots. The multi angle MSD boots were too long for me and replaced them with distributor boots.
