I ordered a set of edelbrock heads recently, I have an existing Performer intake, I do not have an original cast iron intake. The car is a 1968 firebird 400, with the 400 hood. Will the RPM or Profession Products Crosswinds fit under the hood?

I am concerned the performer will now be a bottle neck, I feel limited on what I can do since the RPM and Crosswinds may not fit, and really don't want the weight of the cast iron manifold. I am going to be running a mild cam at first, the Summit 2801 with 1.65 rockers.

68 Firebird with an RPM intake here. But I am limited on air cleaner options. Spent some time with crumpled aluminum foil finding the limit of hood clearance. I ended up with a stock, dropped base, 4-barrel single snorkel. Motor mount status can change height a little. Mine were new. Between aluminum heads, intake, pulleys, etc. I took 100 lbs off the engine.

i've try the same combination with an 1/2" spacer and an 3 inch open filter and it fits too

Thank you for the responses. Judging by your comments and the pictures, it seems to fit. Not sure why so many say there is no way it fits. The open element picture seems to demonstrate that it fit fairly easy.

Not positive but I think Second Gens have the clearance issue more than First gens.
