Great Job, Rob! I remember when you were trying to decide if you should pay the big bucks to have a shop do it or if you should give it a shot....Congratulations!
We'll have to set up side by side at a show sometime. Pepper Green looks great with a black roof...at least it does to me.

My top is green! Is your interior black also or is it the dark green? Your previous avatar made your top look green instead of black!

The top and interior are black. I'm enough of a '70 newbie that I'm not sure that I was aware of Green roofs......oh well, live and learn! Either way, yours looks great, hell of a job and I'll be glad to put my Judge next to your ride at any show. We can buy Paul a beer, or two.

Thanks for the kudos! I tried looking for your car at the co-vention in Dayton but I was only able to come up on Wednesday when only half the cars were there if that many, and I was looking for a pepper green judge with a green top! Oops!!!
Mine is green, green, and more green, hopefully it will come out looking nice when it's all done. Plan on taking it to a show here and there and enjoy driving it as well.
If you still have my email, send me a couple of picts of yours all finished if you get a chance. I posted a couple of other ones of mine in the winter project post in the lobby.
Take care fellow greeny!!!

Here is an outdoor shot from a show that we did in Canton, Ohio. I'll send you some other pictures from my office computer.

Thanks, Geo Turner

Mikey likes it! That looks fantastic! You should feel really good about the way it turned out, and I thank you for taking the time to share the process, as that job is still ahead of me and your info makes it a little less intimidating.

Seriously, get a good top (Can't say enough good about SMS), take your time, measure, lay it all out, etc etc, and use common sense and if your the least bit mechanically inclined, go for it! I even got so brave as to do my headliner also!!! I have a post on that experience.

That looks awesome. My hat's off to you for taking this on and doing such a great job!

I had a vinyl top put on my '72 this Spring. I had a super talented trim guy do it for me. While he was doing the top, I also had him do the headliner.

He was a pro and it took him a day and a half to do both jobs. Cost me $700 and I supplied the parts.

I might have thought about it but I replaced one of the 1/4 panels and the trunk filler panel between the rear window and trunk so I didn't want to risk not having all the moldings lined up right.

Vinyl tops make these cars IMO.

Rob,

I am getting ready to do mine in about a month or two. Could you please enlighten me on what you learned? I was going to use Legendary, but you said SMS? The same people as the paint?

EDIT: I believe I found them, requested samples;

I would really love to talk with you. Please PM me with your telephone # if you will.

SMS gets my vote. I used the pre sewn and had a pro install it. Came out fantastic. They sent the sample immediately. After I placed the order it took approximately 3-4 weeks for the top to arrive.

Rob, did you spray the glue or roll it? Bumping this up as I'm looking ahead a few months to doing this myself.
