Default WIW 86 Trans Am

What is this 86 TA worth? 305, auto, ac,cruise,tilt,129k miles. He hasn't had it running for 2-3 years, but said it ran and drove well. It had an issue with not starting with the key but starts right up with a remote starter button. It has silver, faded on the top portions, needs paint he says. The headliner is sagging down on top of your head. Says the rest of the interior is in good shape. Factory type 16" wheels. 4 wheel disc brakes. No rust. Its a Boise. Id. car now residing in eastern Or. high desert. Thanks for your opinions, don't have a clue what these 3rd gen. birds are worth.

Third-gens project cars aren't that valuable. Figure its worth around $1500, maybe $2000 if thats what it takes to buy the car and you really like it.

Thanks Den for the reply. Are parts hard to find for these cars? IE parking lamps, turn signals, spoiler, the owner says they're crunched. I'm considering this as a birthday gift for my son. He will be 18 soon. Thanks for any information, still don't know much of these 3rd gen birds.

Thirdgen.org will have pretty much all you need to know and a huge list of vendors. I go to the dealer 1st for parts. surprising whats still out there and whats not.
I'm TTOP350 on all the boards I'm on.

Around my area $1200-$2000 for the car your describing.

Decent ones are getting alot harder to find, you can buy a real nice one for $2500-$5000

You can pick up pos piles for $400-$800 They pop up pretty often.

Third gen is a great place to find parts for these, and classic industries has a ton of parts for 3rd gens, although pricey on most stuff.

Car would be 185HP so that's a good starter car for your son. 4 wheel disc J65 is a nice plus, should have power windows, locks and A/C with the 2nd level or 3rd level TA package.

I wouldn't spend more than $1500 as described. Like others have said, for a little more you can find really nice ones. I've been looking for a real clean 88 or 89 black IROC convertible for a while now.

Myself I dont see any reason to dwell on 3rd gens when 4th gens are getting so cheap.

I have a couple fixer upper 4th gens for about that price
