Dang. Not sure how I missed out on one of those (...instead of the Krate bike).
Do you know what years those were made? K

Keith, I think it was a custom, but the Schwinn experts may be able to tell us for sure. It was at the MCACN show, in the Tiger Gold display.

Yes, those Stingrays were quite popular. I had the coaster brake model in red, just like in this picture. Then in about 3rd grade (1976 for me) BMX hit my town and I converted my Stingray into a BMX machine, ditched the banana seat for a Messenger saddle, added BMX handle bars and knobby tires. I guess that was really my first hot rod! |

Another non-automotive old picture...
One of the storefronts of my village property. The hitching post is gone now, but the cast iron grill work and column facades still exist, about a century later. No, that ain't me standin' there in the black hat...

That looks like a 24" bike, with the banana seat, sissy bar and handlebars from a 20" bike. I had a 24" bike too, I don't remember ever having a 20" banana seat bike.

Yep, it was a 24". Originally came with saddle seat with the two springs under it, chrome fenders, black chain guard and low, wide handle bars. I stripped it down and added the bannana seat, sissy bar, ape hangers, speedometer, battery-operated headlight and rear view mirrors. Bought all those items at the bike accessories section at the local Ace Hardware with grass mowing money and bottle refund money. Took me a full summer of saving to buy all the stuff. I have a 35mm slide somewhere of me and my sister the Christmas day that we got our bikes.

OHC Hot Rod Engine
While searching for something else; I found this photo I'd taken several yrs ago of a Modified OHC Pontiac.
IIRC it was modified and used to power a speedboat. |

Wow, that's VERY cool!!
May have been posted before, I can't recall, but I thought this was one of the coolest Pontiac powered dragsters ever. A pair of Pontiac 4-cylinders, and a great name, "Eight The Hard Way".
