Broken rear end housing
I just picked up a 59 Catalina. It is all stock coupe with 2bbl and auto but, the rear end housing was broken on the passenger side where the vent it. Broken almost all the way around, had maybe an inch or 2 holding it together. Since I was using a dolly, I had to swap out the rear before I could tow it.
Has anyone ever seen or heard of this happening? I consider it very strange. This type of drop out rear end was used through 1964 so, i posted this in both sections. __________________

Could have been a casting flaw opposite the vent more or less? That would do it.

yeah but the housing is welded stamped steel...sounds like heavy MIS-use (i.e. field racing, etc.)
