Vintage Woodward Ave. pictures
Some footnotes:
In 1909, Woodward Ave, between 6 Mile and 7 Mile Roads in Wayne County, was the first concrete road ever built in America. In 1919, the first 3-color, 4-way traffic light in the nation was installed at the corner of Woodward Ave and Michigan Ave. And here's a few vintage pics! The year and description are part of the pic.

The 1967 pic showing the kids protesting the "No Cruising" law is my favorite.

Wow a 50s flashback. I bet you'd love to still have that 57 Pontiac Kiddie car. I haven't seen one of those for ages.

1977-1978
Back in the old days in a snow state a person would need a car for the winter[winter rat] and his nice car for the summer months.
GTO's were a plenty then.......who knew right? The red Goat is my first.....a 1968,3spd stick,buckets,hideaways,400 4 barrel. The Liberty Blue 69 is my 2nd GTO, 400-2barrel,auto on the colum, split bench, white inter, hidaways. I paid $500 for the 68 and $300 for the 69. All running and ready to go........those were the days

Tires were MT (Micky Thompson) as I had a pair also.
BTW, it is a '56 pedal car. Grill and suspenders on hood.

That was the time (Aug 77) I bought my first car, and I settled for a '66 Bel Air for $400. I would have peddled my bike from west Michigan to NY to buy a GTO that cheap if I knew where they could be found. |

in 76-78 the muscle cars were a plenty, there was even a guy that drove his Aqua blue 68 rag top GTO all season long, just put snow tires on it in the NY winters.
His car was fast [at the time] headers and a Crane Fireball cam. )
