Default Pontiacs Racing at Vegas National Event

We posted Don Kennedy's here are a few others:

Angeles 69 Firebird 400 RAIV (722 cast iron heads) vs Peterson 69 GTO (16 C I heads)
SS/GA verses SS/IA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=X9WhPgCNquQ

Joel Larkin's Super Stock 67 Firebird 400 325HP SS/IA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2Kv...e_gdata_player

JB Clegg's 74 455 SD TransAm 4sp

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJuW...e_gdata_player

Below attached is Bo Butner's 67 Firebird stocker! Completely cast iron down to the stock intake and 670 head castings. They allow not even a Carb spacer. It has the stock lift cam, but duration and overlap is wide open. No light weight pistons, rods, or pins as they have published weights for them. Stock valve sizes. I saw this car go 10.69 in 3500 feet air! That is 10.30s on the east coast in the spring or fall!

Ah Yes Curt! That would be Mr Steve Apted! Mr. Dead on 2 in the final. He beat my buddy Trevor Larson in the semis. Heck Steve,if I'm not mistakin, beat Tracy Dennis(sunset racecraft race engines)in a previous round.Steve had one of those Magic weekends! It was awesome watching via the Internet.

Nooooooo Kidding. That stop stuff is tough.Attempting to try to control a whole other set of variables,is tough to say the least.let alone try to dial. And Super Gas geez to say thats a visious class is a major understatement CONGRATS to you guys!!!!

Then there's BO.......congrats to that guy he doubled up in Vegas and seems to make putting National event Wally's on the wall look easy. He is a stud!!

Sorry cgeise, didn't see you we were only there Thursday we will look for you next year. I also missed Leo Glassbrenner & his 68 400HO Firebird and the Burtons! I had many more videos but they didn't turn out. The sun was so bright I couldn't see the screen.

Joel's ran 10.30.s. he does all his engines himself. He was at Nor walk and is buying some RAV stuff, has loads of Pontiacs. Most 400 guys in NHRA that go fast go 7800 to 8000.

Lynn, Nice meeting you this year at Norwalk (& again in Vegas). Cool of you to post some videos of the Vegas Nationals. Some other Pontiac racers in attendance were:
John Schloe '69 bird
Ryan Schloe '73 formula
Lidy Lindholm '74 formula
Larry Maxwell '70 LeMans
Carrol Warling '77 Grand Prix (?)
Frank ? (allpontiac.com) Top Sportsman, Ha! I won a side bet w/ my non-Pontiac racing friends as we watched him run a 7.47 in qualifying. That it had Pontiac Power. Found him in the pits & to their dismay, Pontiac Power indeed, no power adders & single 4!
Also 2 super Stockers in GT/AA Qualifiyed extremly well with 428's
Don Kennedy's Sunfire &
Robert Cruzen's Cobalt
I been thinking of building a 428 & switching to GT/CA...

I'm shifting @ 7200 +- & going trough the lights @ 7000

Gary, Your bird looks awesome, I did'nt recognize it! We sure had alot of fun at LACR back in the 90's. (were still havin fun, we just gotta tow farther)

Congratulations to you & Karen for another good season. It has got to be tough doing battle with the H-D's. As much as I love Harleys, were always rootin for ya!
