Also a 63 1/2 Ford Fairlane 500, the fastback.

You friend must have had that confused with the 59 GTO. LOL

Nope.

By the way, Ford does not recognize the "64 and a half" nomenclature (they officially refer to the Mustang as a '65).

Same as theres no such thing as a "70 & 1/2" Camaro or Firebird....no matter how many print publications want to use the term. GM never referred to them like that.

Arbys,
That was a 63 1/2 Galaxie and it won the Daytona 500 in '63 if my memory serves me right.

It must be rare to find a 70 1/2 Firebird with a big block pontiac in it. I'll keep looking.

Question, didn't the 64 GTO come out midway in the Model year? That's why it's called 64 1/2, 63 1/2 70 1/2 etc for other makes.

Not really; it came out in October whereas most typical model years start in September.

Hardly midway, and I've never heard GTOs referred to in that way.

My '64 GTO was built and delivered in March of 1964. I guess it must be a 64 1/2.

My 66 GTO was Baltimore built 3rd week of March 1966. Mine must be a 66 1/2. I wonder if I can get a DE vanity plate that says 66 1/2. LOL

I'm right behind you - mine rolled off the production line on April 17th. I think mine is a 64 and 5/8ths...

...don't forget the 69 1/2 Super Bee and Road Runners, the "Lift Off Hood" A12 cars...440 6-Pack and 440 6-BBL

63 1/2 Ford is well known and I have always heard the early Mustang refered to the 64 1/2
