I remember in the late 80's or early 90's there was a twin engine Old Tornado written up in a car magazine. If I recall they built it for the Autobahn since the owner was German. Thats a lot of resources to eat up on a project.

At least it was probably a clone SS Chevelle.

Those Olds Toronado powertrains seem to have been used quite a bit for custom projects. I was at a local car meet this summer and there was a really nice 1940ish chevy pickup with a Blown Olds 455 Toronado setup in the pickup bed area...It was a very detailed professional looking installation and the owner said it was very easy to get the front wheels off the ground!

Check this one out.........The Hairy Olds !

Lot of New Jersey Guys were Street Racers, http://connectinghighway.com/

You go up against some guy looking for a easy race and he sees a Olds engine under the hood, he might make a sucker bet with you.

Having a second engine that doubles the power might allow you to catch the occasional dumbazz who wants to race for money.

This looks like a sort of poor mans Hurst Hairy Oldsmobile-the 1967 442 that had two Olds 425 Toronado drivetrains as an exhibition car Hurst and Oldsmobile during the same era.

Wow is that different! Yet all I see is one shifter? I wonder how you put the other transmission in gear?

Back in 1963 was 17 YU and a car used to get service at a service station that mine friend worked at. It was a 56 Ford with a second engine in the back seat. They did an excellent job of it and almost like it could have come that way from the factory.

Likely 2 shifter cables attached to the same shifter somehow. I would think it would be neat to put one in reverse and the other one in drive and floor it.

Wow... what an interesting project. $40k in 1992 dollars, and he's asking $11K now. Goes to show how you can burn up money when your taste in car mods is "to the beat of a different drummer".

Would be interesting to know how he setup both engines....would be neat just to be able to run on one or both.

1966 442, not 67.

Doesn't look like a hack job, I'd buy it.

I remember at the 1980 Street Machine Nationals in Indy, there was a Honda Civic, with a Toronado drivetrain stuffed in the back seat.

I remember this car from the PHR article. It was crazy back then.

It would be a neat cruise night toy, but probably worthless as a driver.

You are actually both correct. The Hairy Olds 442 was originally a '66 and then updated to a '67

Finally a chevelle I would not mind riding around in! That's the way to make a chev cool, put in a different brand engine(s).
In stock form, most of those Olds motors put out 390hp and were no slouch.

I wonder how it handles with all the extra weight? Being 4wd, it would be a good tow vehicle too! if you do not need int room.

All Wheel Drive vehicles launch very well. I bet it would do some 1.6 60 footers.

That would surprise the average 2.0+ 60 foot Mustang guy.
