Default Need a good Chrome Shop

The one that I used to take motorcycle parts to has closed so I am looking for a new one.

I have only two small parts at the moment that need to be done. A Hurst Shifter and an air cleaner lid. They have some minor pitting and specs of rust that need to be finished so that chrome will be smooth again.

Anyone have a good shop that you have used?

Ive had a problem with just rechroming the lids
factory stamping left a few stress marks that look like $*** when rechromed.
I have a shop that will fix the bad spots before redoing.
To be honest its not easy I took it back once and showed to owner and he said"no problem it will be right".
Hurst used to offer a rechrome when shifter was rebuilt.

It is really tough sometimes to find a GOOD chrome plater.

The Harley guys usually know the good ones from the bad...If you have an HD dealership in your area talk to the service manager if you're not having any luck finding one on your own...a bad chrome plater can really f up your parts.

Yes I know it's tough. Over the years I have had parts done with success but the shop closed so that's why I am in the hunt again.

I do ride with a group (not Harleys) that should know where to get things plated at - maybe. I am not beyond shipping the items since they are small but I'll admit having one close by would be an advantage. If the results are good I would want to take the original rear bumper in as well.

Recommended by my Harley friends....long way from you (and me for that matter) but I've seen their work...simply amazing.

http://www.meclec.com/

My business requires the use of "rack plating"...large quantities of small parts for decorative chrome plating...wouldn't be my first choice for my cars but much more affordable than the link above. Also, for my interest, a local chrome plater eliminates the "finger pointing" in case parts become scratched in transit.

I used Vernes Chrome Plating to do the bumpers on my car last June. The guy has been doing it a long time. http://www.verneschromeplating.com/

Almost a shame to put them on my car =P
