Muzzleloaders
With muzzleloader season starting in my area within the next few days I have ran into some problems. Went Sunday to see how they were shooting and neither one would fire. One has a fresh load of black powder, the other still loaded from last season. I have checked the nipples, new caps and even checked my powder this evening to make sure it was good, poored some on paper on the ground and lit it. Went off good. I have a ball puller but can't get the ball out of either one. I'm thinking I may be able to take my air compressor and shoot around 90-125lbs of air pressure once I pull the nipples back out and see if I can force them out that way. AHas anyone ever had problems with this and if so what did you do. Both are Thompson's, one is a New Englander and the other is a St.Louis style Hawkins if this helps. Thanks in advance. Alan

Sometimes you can pull the nipple and put a small amount of FFFG in there and put the nipple back in, cap it and make it go boom... Might also switch the nipple out to a musket cap nipple.

Thanks, I tried it this evening, though I must say I was a little leary of doing it. When the Hawkins went boom it shot out about 12 inches of flame. Also put new nipples on both of them this evening. All systems are go now. Thanks again for the help. Alan
