The aftermarket and reproduction transmission mounts are usually too thick. This pushes the rear of the transmission up and the front of the engine down causing fan shroud clearance issues. Mill the transmission mount down 1/8" to 1/4" and you will solve the problem

Too funny that I ran across this thread and this car.

I don't know whether this is good news or bad, I even drove that car back in the early 70s.
It was owned since new by a kid known as "Johnny Hotrod" in Meredosia area. His mother bought him several new vehicles. The engine was rebuilt at least 5 times and twice by a guy who had a repair shop there by the name of Irv on Rt 104, died decades ago. Hotrod had a habit of driving a little crazy and blowing up engines, hence his nickname.

I can without a doubt guarantee you, the original color was that metallic green. I always wondered why anyone would order a judge that awful color. It was the only judge or even GTO I'd ever seen that color. When I knew the car, it was completely original with perhaps only a couple little paint chips.

Some of the oldtimers in Meredosia would probably remember Johnny Hotrod and give you some more leads. He was rather well known. If he continued his lifestyle, he is probably long gone, but if still alive, he should be between 65-70 years old.

BTW, nice work on the car.

I bought the car from John (hotrod) in 1995. The color in the picture is not the original color, I can assure you that.
According to the title I have, he bought it used in 1975, borrowed money against it all the way up until 1991 when the lien was finally released.
As far as engines and rearends for that matter, it came with spares.
He can still probably be found at the tavern east of town.
The car needs the decals and exhaust installed and will be done, nothing like a 17 year frame off restoration.

Anyway good luck with the car, looks a world better this color.

The last ride on a trailer for a while. Final buffing, exhaust, and decals.

That's strategic placement of the trailer for easy car removal...the concrete is 6 inches taller at the back of the trailer than it is at the rear tires...don't want to damage that nice plastic front spoiler.
Thanks for the comments,Doug

No orange or green variations will ever look that good on a 70 !

iirc you said the Sable Metallic used multi-color sparkles/pearls - not just silvery/goldy sparkles.

Hope to see this one in person someday.
Gotta be Extra Awesome in the right light.

Which color Stripes/Decals and RA call outs going on it ?

Did you put Tach & Gauges in the dash ?

Really a great Judge, Doug
Congrats to you Man

Added factory options are tilt and wood wheel, in dash gauges, and wheel opening moldings(with front valance chrome).
Stripes are red blue yellow.
Todd, finally finishing the '57 bug with the 240HP engine, and putting a 140HP in a '62 356...thought you would get a kick out of that.
The silver '71 is coming along too.
Thanks for the comment's! When I think I have it done I'll post a bunch of pictures to be critiqued so we can hopefully all agree everything is correct.
Doug
