Default Tom Wilhite oil pump

Has anybody used it yet? Any results? I heard it will fit a stock pan? True or False.
Looking to upgrade pump, if it is worth it.

Joe, Tom Wilhite (from Kansas) has built a bunch of engines over the years.

Mike Cooper, with his blown 1963 Carbon Fiber car being one of them I believe.

Wilhite has always been one to try new stuff.

He raced for several years a 59 Pontiac with a BIG stroker engine.

I knew that his Oil Pump was on the radar screen but have seen no real info on it.

I heard that it was a G-Rotor design.

Exclamation

It will fit a stock pan phyisically But the oil pickup port is wright in the corner of the oil pan. When we talked he mentioned that a small pocket on the side off the pan would be a good idea. Its a modified billet Ford sportsman pump. I have pics if youd like to see it? I did post them before. Search my post its there. Scott

I think Tom even has a Bridgeport cutter to open 670s up to "open" chamber 68 and up heads.

Some fast big cars he and his wife race.

Thumbs up

I just saw Tom earlier this July. I had stopped in his shop just to see this oil pump. It is indeed a geroter (sp) pump built to compete with the Titan offering. It does fit into a stock pan!
He told me he's in the process right now of having more built. Give him a call for more info

Food for thought, the Ford Pumps have an issue with cavitation (inlet side too small) at very high rpm. The Keens cracked a couple of the pumps at the middle of the stem. They ran 8500/9000 rpm (with their glide) in the Mustang.

The fix, according to all of my oil experts at work is a larger inlet tube, a bunch larger.

This slows the velocity of the oil down at the inlet and eliminates the cavitation issue.

ps If you are running a 6000-7000 engine probably will never be an issue, course running a Milling Gear pump will not be either at those rpm levels.

Thanks for my Titan pump.....no issues since it was installled in 2001.

No doubt that Tom's pump will be a winner.

Tom,Wilhite is a NO BS,strait shooter. My Dad just bought a oil pan and I think one of those oil pumps from him. Wilhite has been racing pontiacs for a very long time and if he has come out with a product, there is no doubt in my mind it will work WELL.Just my 2cents

Oh ya I still like the heck out of that Haas car you drive.
