Anyone have an original two-page window sticker?
I am looking for a sample of how Pontiac prepared window stickers in 1972 when the option count forced it to go onto a second page.
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/....php?p=4685661 I am trying to get one reproduced for my 35 option, special order paint, 72 Formula but Triple A didn't get it right the first time. I want to be able to give them a sample to work off of so they have something to go by instead of just guessing. From web searches I have located the first page of someone's 72 GTO high optioned car, but the second page couldn't be found. (follow the above link to see it) Anyone have an original? Thank you! My first 72 GTO WW5 I bought in '77 had a 2 page sticker. I kept it with the car when I sold it in 1981 but, did make copies of it and have them somewhere. If you are unable to locate an original, I may be able to help with copies.
Also, this car was offered for sale earlier this year and I started a thread on it. You may be able to contact the current owner for help as well.

It would be wonderful if you could find that copy. I have looked far and wide for a real example.
Thanks, NJSteve |

I have pictures of one for a true 72 GTO convert that I took at the 1982 POCI Convention. It's the late production style where "PONTIAC" is outlined in red. Before I post it I'm trying to find out if I can include the VIN. I have no idea who owns the car or if it even still exist. Do you know if there's a policy about posting VIN's ?

There isnt any official web policy but it's not a bad idea for privacy concerns. If you want to email it to me, I can crop it out and then post it.

Thanks, YNOBIL.
Here it is: Sticker for a 72 Lemans Sport ragtop with the GTO option. I edited out the last 4 digits of the VIN. Last edited by njsteve; 07-24-2012 at 08:29 AM. |

That's going to stir up some controversy! Aside from the obvious GTO option - 15 inch wheels & Y99 bars on a convertible?

So, this is the first to surface?
Many including me have heard it doesn't exist, read it in print, and now it has been in plain sight since 1982? http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...TO+convertible BTW: Car exists too? Like to see the PHS too....

This car was parked next to me at the 1982 POCI Convention in Minnesota (I still had hair back then). I remember the owner had a letter from GM or Pontiac authorizing the car to be built. Being 10 years old the car was already nicely repainted. This was 30 years ago and I haven't seen the car since. Steve will be adding better pictures from me.

Gotta see those docs, and send Jim the VIN for invoice confirmation.
Until then, and ONLY then, it's PURE BS.

That is way cool! This may be the elusive '72 GTO convertible that Paul Zazarine use to mention in his articles. Now where are the '72 GTO station wagons? |

Since this is really big question, anybody have connections with Jim to research this? Of course I have the full VIN and would love to be proved right or even wrong if that's the case. If those stickers are fake, it's the best forgery I've ever seen.

If you trust me with the information, please e-mail that full VIN to me at bell-auto@comcast.net and I'll pay the fees. You have my assurances that the VIN will NOT be made public by me. Results will be posted here, but in a new thread . . .

Here's the photos.
I sent an unedited copy of the window sticker(s) with the VIN visible, to Jim Mattison at PHS and he confirmed that the invoice on the car does not match the window sticker. It is a 1972 Lemans Sport convertible with the GTO endura bumper option. Jim mentioned that several items have been added to the window sticker in question, in addition to the fact that it was obviously printed on a 1973 window sticker blank that would not have existed at the time this car was originally produced. The person who did the sticker must have found some blank 1973 window sticker sheets and typed it up the way he wanted it, to go with the car. It would kind of be like finding a previously unfound Honus Wagner baseball card, turning it over and seeing the Kinko's printing label on the back. Last edited by njsteve; 07-24-2012 at 02:54 PM. |

What's far more important is this: how can I get my hair to look like the guys' hair in the photos.
How I long for the old days when I had my mullet.... |
