Default 1972 Formula window sticker needed

Does anyone have an original example of a 1972 Formula window sticker? I need to know what a real one looks like.

I just got my repro sticker from PHS (via Triple A who does it for them) and it is incorrect. They left out a bunch of items, most important of all was the special order color option W51 which makes this car so unique. They also added an M38 automatic trans instead of the M22. And there is no "Unless otherwise specified" paragraph that should list the base Formula equipment.

It almost looks like Triple A edited my 36 options to fit on one page of the repro window sticker sheet. I gave them all of my paperwork, PHS invoice, and the 1993 and 2011 GM Canada docs that listed everything.

If I could supply them with an example, then they hopefully could redo it properly.

Thanks, Steve

Jim Mattison just returned my phone message and asked me to immediately fax him the incorrect sticker. Nice of him to call back that fast, even after they closed, to boot.

He indicated that an original 72 Formula window sticker would be really helpful. So if anyone has one, please email me or post it here.

Thanks!

Argh . . .

Thought I had some sort of a '72 'bird window sticker, but alas all I can find is a '73 SD sticker.

Got a '70 GTO and '72 GTO sticker, FWIW . . .

Thanks Lloyd. I actually have those in my archive already. I still could use a 72 sticker.

OK, sorry about that, Steve. Thought it was worth a shot.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a '72 Firebird WS.

72 GTO

ORIGINAL PARTS GROUP BLANK

1972 LEMANS..

1972 GTO, notice total isnt finished? This car, like yours, Steve used two stickers, and totals are on second sheet.( saw a few while working at a dealership, mostly came on ordered cars, big cars , trucks with lots of single options not in a group)
second sheet was not posted . Tripple A ( window sticker folks) will have to up their program a bit and do this right, on two stickers, and totals on second sticker. Good thing your side glass is long!

Thanks for the examples. Yeah, Triple A was not even close on this one.

Somebody out there has to have a 72 Formula sticker out there!

Me too, Steve. Oh, but I do know the end to the story - $5,332.47.

That's the sticker off of my old Shadow Gold WW5 GTO. I sold it to Mike Marx and then it went to California, IIRC.

FWIW, (and off topic here) here are a couple more docs from that car. Not all that many options - compared to several other WW5 cars I have the docs on . . .

One of the guys in the 70-72 GTO/Lemans tech section had this from a photo he took back in 1980:

Sticker for a 72 Lemans Sport ragtop with the GTO option. I edited out the last 4 digits of the VIN.

Must be, LOL!

EDIT: Not only was the GTO option unavailable on the 'vert, the Y99 handling package was only available on coupe and hardtop as well . . .

Mystery solved...

I sent an unedited copy of the window sticker(s) with the VIN visible, to Jim Mattison at PHS and he confirmed that the invoice on the car does not match the window sticker. It is a 1972 Lemans Sport convertible with the GTO endura bumper option. Jim mentioned that several items have been added to the window sticker in question, in addition to the fact that it was obviously printed on a 1973 window sticker blank that would not have existed at the time this car was originally produced. The person who did the sticker must have found some blank 1973 window sticker sheets and typed it up the way he wanted it, to go with the car.

It would kind of be like finding a previously unfound Honus Wagner baseball card, turning it over and seeing the Kinko's printing label on the back.

So that means I am still looking for a genuine, original two page window sticker (preferably from a Firebird).

I think on second page it says CONT.. or the whole word continued at the top
I am thinking people with lots of options get just what they get and never question it, when in fact a bunch should have two stickers. Its obvious too by looking at some with no totals.
