pics of the very first 67-69 firebird Tri-Y headers...finally here!
These are made by Ron Watt of Tribal Tubes. This isnt a "for sale" thread, so please look for that in the performance classifieds. This is just for pics, info and any questions you might have. What you see is the prototype for the 2" primary headers. As with all his other headers they tuck nice and tight, have generous radiused bends and dont need to be bent up to fit. Flanges are also straight and true.
In this case, the drivers side (pictured) was the real bear due to steering components, etc. BUT...he was able to make all the primary tubes within 1 inch length of each other. Performance should be awesome and looking forward to dyno results at some point. So......pictured are the 2" primary, 2 1/4" secondaries with 3.5" collectors. But the 1 3/4" primary sets with 2" secondaries and 3" collectors will be built on the same jigs. Keep in mind that its all tack welded in the pics for a reason. The prototype has to be disassembled to reproduce each piece. More pics will follow as assembly occurs on production sets, and then you can count on the usual combination of nice mig and tig welds all his headers have. They do look cool though dont they? lol. Yes, they are available in o-port and d-port. Regarding fitment...the engine will have to be jacked up on the drivers side with the mount bolt removed and starter out to put the header in from below. These can ONLY be used with a mini-starter. My guess is if you need 2" headers you already have one. But the 1 3/4" set will also need one. Passenger's side is a breeze to install. The first two sets are old orders being built as the jigs are being made. Roadrage David and Arrowem |

LOL...careful now! Its still going to take a little time while the jig is being made, copies of the pieces and then the same header gets built in 1 3/4" reverse engineered. Unless of course you change your mind and want 2" too. lol. Either way the 1 3/4" will follow.

Don't forget me!
Just spoke to Aron. He wanted me to know about this posting. I was unaware. I am also a First Gen guy. So I am happy to see something happening.
Not sure how many other First Gen guys ordered headers. I believe I am number three behind Roadrage David and Arrowem. Maybe others. Not sure. Just for the record - bought and paid for: First (1st) Gen Firebird - 1969, 1 3/4 Primary, D Port, 3in round collector, no coating, 3in to 3in slip fit reducers, tabs packed with headers. Happy to see these pictures. Sending updates is the best way to create more business and keep all of us in the loop. Keep the updates coming

I talked to Ron on the phone a few weeks ago and he told me about these. After actually seeing them, all I can say is wow. Great job. I've been wanting to build a 1st gen lately mainly based on the idea of all of the suspension pieces available in the aftermarket, and now seeing these I really really want to build one.

Headers, where headers?????
Just for the record:
I purchase a set of First Gen FB, D port, 1 3/4in primary, 3in round slip fit collectors, no coating, 3in to 3in round reducers, tabs to be shipped loose with headers. I made this purchase on March 27, 2012. I paid through PayPal and ordered directly from Ron. He told me that it would take 3-4 weeks plus/minus 2 weeks. After a few phone conversations with Aron along the way I was assured that my headers along with the other guys who wanted First Gen FB headers were in the works. It is now over three months and still nothing. Has anyone received headers of any type from Ron in the last few months? If so, please post how long it took from order date to receiving them. Perhaps I am just talking to myself. I knew the risks going in and am prepared for it. I was hoping that my order would also help others get their headers along the way. So has my order helped? Or have I just joined the ranks of the rest of us simply waiting until the end of time? This is the other thread about Ron's headers: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=700479 Please post on this thread or the other so the rest of us can find out. Thanks
