Default YS 400 and Trans Value

I know this is tantamount to religious heresy on this site and will open me to allot of harsh criticism, however I am pulling the original numbers matching engine and trans from my 1970 Formula in the fall.

I am considering selling the originals rather than storing as I never intend to sell the Formula.

The question is what a clean running condition YS 1970 400 engine and turbo 400 trans are worth. It has the original stock chrome valve covers and air filter top, correct alternator and rear alt. mount.

Please if you want to editorialize on the decision PM me, only values here. I would prefer to sell to a board member that is doing a restoration.

I know where I can get a WT for $2k. And I would have to say that the WT (with 12 heads) is worth a bit more than a YS (with 13 heads). In addition, the original TH400 attached to a YS is nothing special, and can be had for less than $400 is my guess.

But it sounds like you are selling everything that is attached to that block to include alternator, brackets, air cleaner, carb(?), in this case I would value the entire package at around $2.5k-$3k.

And I know you don't want to hear this but, DON'T DO IT!

Nothing high value there my guess is unless it can be heard running 1500 or so would be doing ok. Someone who can hear it run would most likely pay more like 2K if that was what they were looking for. Just my .02
